Fringe Review: "Over There"

at .

We have to admit this episode left us a bit confused but wanting more!  We are totally crazy about this show and are saddened that there is only one episode left.

On “Over There”, Olivia and Walter are able to cross into the other universe on a mission to find Peter.  An Observer gives a piece of paper to Olivia, showing Peter and some strange machine.  This triggers Walter’s memory, bringing back the promise he made to never let Peter return to his world.

Why would Walter have to make such a promise?  Because apparently Peter is going to destroy the world!  What?  We can’t believe that our universe is going to end because of our adorable Peter!  We are literally on the edge of our seats.

Over There Scene

So with the help of the Cortexiphan test subjects, Olivia and Walter successfully cross over.  In this parallel universe, Martin Luther King Jr. is on a twenty dollar bill and the Statue of Liberty is made of bronze.  Maybe this is how things should really be on our side as well!?!

Walternate turns out to be the Secretary of Defense, in charge of their Fringe team that’s main goal is to locate and prevent holes in the fabric of their universe.  But, it seems he also has a hidden agenda. Walternate is trying to create some sort of spherical machine that will have Peter destroy the world.

We guess that he is not trying to destroy his world, but only our world.  Maybe Walternate is out for retribution and revenge?  He is trying to get to Walter and annihilate our world, maybe to avoid losing his son once again.  Whatever his motives are, they suck and our worlds only hope lies with Agent Olivia Dunham.

  • Will Olivia be able to stop Walternate?
  • Is William Bell on our side?  Can he be trusted?
  • Why would Walternate use Peter, his only son, to destroy our world?

All we know is we are complete Fringe fanatics, and are counting down the hours until next week’s part two season finale.  In the end, when all the dust settles, we hope things return to normal with Peter and Olivia coexisting in one universe together.  We hope Walter is alive and that he and Peter have been able to salvage their relationship.

We will just have to wait and see.

Until next week, here are a few Fringe quotes to keep you guessing:

Walter: Know that we had noble goals. We believed that our world needed guardians, protectors. That you children would be those protectors. | permalink
Walter: Today is the day for which you were created. | permalink
Walter: I'll think I'll go and have a bit of a cry. | permalink
