The Big Bang Theory Season Three Finale Review: "The Lunar Excitation"
Eric Hochberger at .Week in and week out, The Big Bang Theory is definitely one of the most consistently funny shows always guaranteed to have us laughing, or at the very least smiling throughout the entire episode.
The show rarely does anything bold beyond its clever, nerdy take on classic sitcom devices. There's never any overall story arcs, and rarely do new characters and plots last beyond an episode or two.
So really, what did we expect from the season three finale? For some reason we really hoped "The Lunar Excitation" would be different from say, any other episode.
This week's big events? Penny drunkenly slept with Leonard, only to crush hit little heart as he thought there was a chance of them getting back together. Oh and Sheldon met his perfect female counterpart, Amy (Mayim Bialik).
Now the latter might seem like a big deal, but it only appeared as a teaser at the end. I suppose that's supposed to be the season's big cliff hanger, but really we've seen many interested girls come into Sheldon's life.
What makes Sheldon Sheldon is his asexual nature. The nice aspect to Amy is she took coitus right off the table, so maybe these two will have a better chance than his previous lady friends.
We hate sounding so negative because the show literally had us laughing the entire episode. We're definitely still giving it a high rating, we were just hoping for some more plot out of a season finale.
Anyways, you know we'll be tuning in next year and be sure and come back here for the most complete set of The Big Bang Theory quotes after each episode. Here's our favorite from this week:
Leonard: Don't worry about the moon. We set our laser to "stun." | permalink
Sheldon: Yes, in 1917 when Albert Einstein established the theoretic foundation for the laser in his paper "Zur Quantentheorie der Strahlung," his fondest hope was that the resultant device be bitchin'. | permalink
Sheldon: Hello, Amy Farrah Fowler. I'm sorry to inform you that you've been taken in by unsupportable mathematics designed to prey upon the gullible and the lonely. Additionally, I am being blackmailed with a hidden dirty sock.
Amy: If that was slang, I'm unfamiliar with it. If it was literal, I share your aversion to soiled hosiery. | permalink
Raj: I'm telling you, dude. The only way to feel better about Penny going out with other guys is for you to get back on the whores. | permalink
