Game of Thrones Season 4 Scoop: Who's Playing The Red Viper?

Game of Thrones has come out with its first major casting announcement for Season 4.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Pedro Pascal - a Chilean actor who has appeared in The Good Wife and Graceland - will portray Prince Oberyn Martell next year on the HBO hit, a character known as The Red Viper who is the cunning prince of Dorne.

Look for the Viper to head to King's Landing on Season 4 for some good ol' fashioned revenge, considering his sister was among those killed by Gregor Clegane when Mad King Aerys was overthrown by Robert Baratheon and the Lannisters.

“This was a tough one,” say showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss said of the casting. “The Red Viper is sexy and charming, yet believably dangerous; intensely likable, yet driven by hate. The boys love him, the girls love him, and he loves them all back. Unless your last name is Lannister. We found a fellow who can handle the job description and make it seem effortless. He wasn’t easy to find and he won’t be easy to stop.”

Game of Thrones Quotes

Tis a big and beautiful world. Most of us live and die in the same corner where we were born and never get to see any of it. I don't want to be most of us.

Oberyn

Thoros: You still mad at us, boy?
Gendry: You sold me to a witch.
Thoros: A priestess. I'll admit, it is a subtle distinction.
Beric: We're fighting a great war. Wars cost money.
Gendry: I wanted to be one of you. I wanted to join the brotherhood, but you sold me off... like a slave. Do you know what she did to me? She strapped me down in the bed. She stripped me naked.
The Hound: Sounds alright so far.
Gendry: And put leeches on me.
The Hound: Was she naked, too?
Thoros: She needed your blood.
Gendry: Yes, thank you. I know that.
The Hound: Could have been worse.
Gendry: She wanted to kill me. They would have killed me if it wasn't for Davos.
The Hound: But they didn't, did they? So what are you whinging about?
Gendry: I'm not whinging.
The Hound: Your lips are moving and you're complaining about something. That's whinging. This one's been killed six times. You don't hear him whinging about it.
