Fans of The Following may need to wait until next season to learn the fate of Claire Matthews, but we can now confirm the future of her portrayer:

Natalie Zea is headed to CBS.

The busy actress - who still plays a role on Justified as well - has been cast in a "continuing" role on Under the Dome, as teased by executive producer Neal Baer to William Keck of TV Guide Magazine.

Look for Zea to make "an alarming appearance in a few episodes beginning in Episode 9," Baer said. "She plays Maxine, and if you think [the show's big baddie] Jim Rennie (Dean Norris) is trouble, you haven't seen trouble yet. And she'll be connected to a number of our characters."

Under the Dome kicks off on June 24 and is based on a Stephen King novel of the same name. It centers on a New England town that suddenly finds itself surrounded by a shield of some kind.

We've seen the first episode, TV Fanatics. It's terrific.
