Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 2 Review: Meet Maggie

at .  Updated at .

Thank God it's Thursday, right Grey's Anatomy fans? Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 2 was all about the new doctor at the hospital, Dr. Maggie Pierce.

Being the new kid at school is never easy. It's especially hard when your supposedly half-sister calls you a liar and tells you to stay away from her.

I get you, Meredith. It's hard to like Maggie, no matter how hard the writers are trying to push for it. Give us time. After all, it took awhile for us to root for newbies like Arizona, Owen and so many more of our favorite docs.

Maggie worked with Jo on several cases and managed to butcher her last name each and every time. She also struggled with Meredith throughout the hour while trying to find the perfect time to reveal her true identity.

It's all becoming relative and it's only a matter of time until Maggie finds out how Webber also fits into her puzzle. Like Meredith said, though, wouldn't she know at age five that her mother was pregnant? In fact, wouldn't Webber know?

Simply put, Maggie had a very rough day, but I'm glad that she bonded with Amelia, Bailey and Jo. By the way, I am still so stoked that Amelia is on board for good. Caterina Scorsone lights up the screen every time.

In this Maggie-centric episode, we learned how she "brings the thunder" and saw her compassionately honor her dying patient's wish. Maggie's relentless mindset brought closure and peace to the unfortunate family who dealt with multiple heart conditions last season. Thanks to Bailey's genome lab and Maggie's interest in genetics, the McNeils learned that genetics were to blame. Mystery solved!

Elsewhere, Arizona is going to take the fellowship and Calzona still want to make Sophia a big sister. Also, the fight for Cristina's seat on the board between Alex and Bailey is still on.

Other Thoughts:

  • How embarrassing was Maggie's gift from her parents?!
  • It was pretty darn cute when Zola ran up to Maggie in the cafeteria. I liked that Maggie realized Meredith couldn't be all that bad and especially the fact that Webber encouraged her to get to know Meredith in spite of her cold shoulder.
  • Can you imagine how fun it would be to work in Dr. Butthole's OR? Alex is going to miss it. I know I would.
  • I'd be lying if I said I found myself not missing Cristina every time her name was mentioned throughout this installment. It's a good thing I can watch Grey's Anatomy online to rehash the days of Yang.

Overall, we got to know Maggie a little better and it's nice to see that she's made some friends. It was a fair episode that showed Maggie's basically a work in progress. Maybe she'll grow on us eventually.

So, what did you think of "Puzzle with a Missing Piece"? Do you like Maggie? Could Meredith be right in saying that there's no way Maggie could be her sister? Sound off in the comments now!

Do you like Maggie?

Let's take a look, meanwhile, at Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 3. Will the truth set Meredith free?

I just had to bring the thunder.

Maggie

I think she’s more than you bargained for, but I think when the world gives you more than you bargained for, you usually end up glad you got it.
