Resurrection Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Old Scars

at .

Well that was one awkward family dinner!

On Resurrection Season 2 Episode 4 Margaret pulled off the impossible. She managed to get all of her family under one roof.

In what was quite possibly my favorite installment of of the entire series; we got some much needed insight into some of the series' biggest mysteries.

The Dinner Party - Resurrection

Michelle Fairley is an utter delight to watch in her role as the matriarch of the Langston clan. Sure, she is conniving and cold, but the fact remains that she is very loyal to her family. Her facial expressions jump off the screen. Whenever someone does something to piss her off, her reaction gives me the creeps.

So, what have you been doing since you returned Barbara, you and what's his name?

Margaret

The opening scene in which the boy is pursued through the woods and strung up before his death was fantastically produced. It was really uneasy to watch. I wasn't shocked at the revelation that the girl was Margaret.

Another character I'm loving is Janine. The woman has found out her husband's deceased ex is with child, and she's not so deceased anymore. Oh, and they're both living under the same roof. Drama! I do feel bad for Janine. She can't have a child and knowing that someone is about to make her husband a father must be tearing her up inside.

I called a lot of the Rachael stuff long ago. Making the baby grow at an accelerated rate was very predictable. It's been done before in many other shows. I'm really curious about what she is actually carrying. It will be a baby, but I'm guessing it's existence will be tied into the main mythology of the series.

We got a larger dose of Barbara this week. She got a frosty reception by both Margaret and Lucille at dinner. I was shell shocked when Lucille let rip about how Barbara messed up Jacob's life by having an affair. This has obviously been on her mind for quite some time and with a little manipulation from her dear mother in law, it helped her begin her tirade.

Galling, isn't it? He had no business inviting that woman here.

Margaret

I was happy to see Fred and Barbara bonding. For Fred, he must feel a rush of emotions coming back to him. Barbara seems like a nice enough woman, but it doesn't get away from the fact that she's a home wrecker. I do believe she has paid somewhat for her sins. She missed the first 32 years of her daughters life and of course, her actions also led to Jacobs death.

Life isn't perfect. It's not supposed to be.

Barbara

I feel like Resurrection has really come into it's own the last few weeks. Hopefully it isn't too late. It's ratings were less than stellar last week and it dropped considerably week to week. It is in a difficult slot facing mega hit The Walking Dead. Perhaps ABC will give it some time to regain some lost ground. Either way, I'll be watching this live and The Walking Dead on demand.
