Criminal Minds is about to get some company.
CBS announced they've given the OK for a planted spinoff. The episode featuring the new premise will begin filming in February and air later in the the season. If it's picked up, it would likely be scheduled for the 2015-16 season.
The new series would focus on a division of the FBI focused on helping American citizens who find themselves in trouble while abroad.
To date, every series CBS has spun off of one of their successful franchises has gone to series save one, an offshoot of NCIS:LA that would have been titled NCIS: Red. There is no word on what the series may be called, but the last outing was Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.
