The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 20 Review: What To Expect When You're Expanding

at .  Updated at .

I guess if Mindy is pregnant, that means she must deal with one of the symptoms 99% of women have... gaining weight.

Danny, unfortunately, had possibly the worst reaction a man could towards his pregnant girlfriend on The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 20. Thanks to a guest appearance from Laverne Cox, Danny learned his lesson and will certainly be a better baby daddy for Mindy.

Of course, Mindy also had to look inward for herself and, again, Laverne Cox saved the day.

Laverne Cox was one of the many of guest stars who paid a visit throughout the episode and was certainly the most memorable character. She had the sass and confidence that Mindy needed to feel better about herself. It seemed perfect that her character was also Tamra's cousin. Match made in familial heaven.

The shining moment was when Laverne Cox's character and Tamra cornered Danny at the hospital and gave Danny the speech about making Mindy feel better. It even made him teary eyed.

Another quick, yet important, guest star was the return of Adam Pally as Peter. It turns out he and Lauren are getting married and invited the entire practice. I'm still confused about their entire relationship, considering Lauren seemed on board with Peter before he left and now it seems like she is settling for him.

The idea of Peter and Lauren getting married definitely did not settle well with Jeremy. His idea was to become 'Jer,' the cool, laid back version of Jeremy. He tried and failed at a singles' pajama party (who knew those things existed?). Luckily, he met the yin to his yang in Cristin Milioti's character, who played an up-tight neighbor who interrupted said pajama party.

Things went well and hopefully that could mean more of Cristin Milioti. Next season? Please, we all want The Mindy Project Season 4.

The old Jeremy would have gone home and taken it out on his pottery wheel.

The last notable guest star was Morgan's girlfriend, Jessica, played by returning player Julia Stiles. She ended up dumping Morgan thanks to his weight gain, but Mindy was right there by his side to give him some confidence, much like she needed. Oh, how stories collide.

It was great to see Morgan and Mindy have colliding stories. Seeing how close Morgan feels to Dr. L., I was waiting for him to say his weight gain was sympathy weight for her pregnancy, instead of a guy who brings turkey legs to bed.

The guest stars were the most memorable part of the episode with enough humor throughout from each of them. If there is one thing The Mindy Project does well it's cast their guest stars.

Which guest star did you enjoy most? Are you excited for a practice gathering at Peter's wedding?

The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 21 is the season finale. What do you think we should expect from those at Shulman and Associates next week?

The Mindy Project Season 3 Episode 20 Quotes

Adults shouldn't have to put on pajamas to meet each other. They should just have their parents introduce them to their second cousin. You know someone who has the same values as them.

Danny

Mindy: Do I look gross?
Rishi: Oh I don't know. I mean I knew you when you had a perm and overalls and that was gross.
