Affairs are sexy.
Even the word is rather scandalous, denoting not only a romantic or passionate attachment of a limited duration (according to Mirriam-Webster), but also public anxiety and controversy. We have it all covered right here.
It's Sexy Saturday and we're taking a look at affairs throughout television history. They certainly aren't new, and some great ones were found on prime time soaps of the 80s, comedies in the 70s and teen fare of the 90s.
Some affairs are for sex, while others are for social status or political power. Some are for love and result in long term relationships, wrecking the marriages of the parties initially involved only to continue on in more enduring committed, lasting engagements.
Sometimes an affair provides a reason for the cheaters to once again explore their feelings for their first partner, but there are other liaisons that result in terrible pain and even murder. Some of the affairs are still in progress, results to be determined!
All of them, though, have left lasting impressions upon the viewers and we've learned a little something about ourselves along the way. Maybe we're soft are heart or we've discovered a voyeuristic side we never knew we had. Maybe we're just suckers for love.
Which are you?
