The Following Season 3 Episode 7 Review: The Hunt

at .  Updated at .

So much for The Following Season 3 being less gruesome, right?

Personally, I was missing the gore a little bit, so I didn't mind watching Theo chop off a man's hand and leave a bloody mess of bodies on The Following Season 3 Episode 7

This was one of the more suspenseful installments, but did anything come of it?

Poor Max had just been cleared for limited duty only to find herself in danger once again. Watching Theo stalk her in the dark with a knife felt like something right out of a horror movie. Granted, we all knew nothing was going to happen to Max and it was too soon for Theo to be caught, so as suspenseful as it was, it was obvious back up would show up just in the nick of time.

What is Tom's end game? He's not going to confront Max, that ship has sailed. I guess he's planning on staying with her? Or is he just playing along until he can get more information from his spy cam? I don't know if there's anything more incriminating to be heard than what he already has recorded.

He and Max did provide the laugh-out-loud moment of the night at least:

Max: I'm fine, I don't need you to mother me.
Tom: Is that what I'm doing? Cuz that's gonna put a serious damper on our sex life.
Max: I think the bitch with a two by four already took care of that.

It may only be a matter of time before Tom and Mike come to blows. If Ryan hadn't interrupted them in the stairwell, it might have already happened. If Tom wasn't such a creeper, I'd say he was justified in his anger with Mike.

Unsurprisingly, Duncan did not last long. With Theo, Mark, and Daisy all still out there, he was expendable. The focus may be on Theo right now, but Mark and Daisy will be back eventually. Maybe by the end of the season Ryan will take out Theo, Mike will get his revenge on Mark, and Max will get to return the favor on Daisy. I doubt it will end up that way, but it would be a nice wrap up if the show isn't picked up for another season (I hope it is).

I still love Theo, so if we do get another season, I would have no problem with him surviving this one. He's a fascinating character and creepy as hell. Not to mention he's got a witty sense of humor:

Tucker: Sam, how did you get in here?
Theo: Really, that's the question you want to lead with? A man is sitting in your living room in the middle of the night holding a gun, and you want to know my method of ingress?

I wouldn't mind seeing him and Mark team up at some point. They would make an interesting pair, wouldn't they?

What do you guys think will happen with Joe? Will he really be executed? My theory is Ryan will find a way to have it postponed so he can keep pumping him for information. By that dream, it appears Ryan's not quite ready to let him go.

I am surprised that Luis made it out of this one alive. He still couldn't identify Theo, so it didn't really matter much. How long until Ryan and Theo come face to face? Max already has, but she doesn't know it. She'll probably be the one to eventually identify him.

Don't forget you can watch The Following online any time.

The Following Season 3 Episode 7 Quotes

I'm not a trick pony. I'm not just here to do your bidding, at least not without a little foreplay first.

Joe

I'm not sure what's more troubling, that you're talking to Joe Carroll or that you're quoting him
