Nashville will sing a slightly different tune on Season 4.

And it will be doing so without Eric Close.

In news broken by TV Line, the actor will not return as a series regular this fall; it's a move meant to help the drama focus more than ever before on the music business.

Rayna’s estranged husband, Teddy had been anchoring the show’s focus on politics for three seasons, as Nashville Season 3 concluded with the character in handcuffs due to his use of government funds to pay off a call girl.

Due to Teddy's relationship with his ex-wife, however, including the children they share together, we likely have not see the last of Close on Nashville.

He is likely to appear as a guest star from time to time.
