Castle Season 8 Premiere Scoop: What "Event" Will Shape the Season?

at .

Stana Katic is very much on board for Castle Season 8.

This actually wasn't always the case, as the actress wasn't signed on for 2015-2016 when Castle Season 7 first wrapped production.

But she's now back as series co-star and producer and she recently spoke to Deadline about what fans can expect in the wake of a cliffhanger that left Beckett pondering a run for New York Senator.

Katic says the first two episodes of Castle Season 8 might as well be called "brother and sister" because they are so closely related.

She goes on to explain how they reflect Castle and Beckett’s perspective on “an event that shifts the entire season into a higher velocity” and “is part of what will set everything up for the next 20 episodes."

In other words, Castle Fanatics: You will want to tune in on Monday, September 21. Take note.

Also of note: show runner Andrew Marlowe is out and writers Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter are in charge.

Katic says this change atop leadership will lead to many "shifts" in the show, though she remains coy beyond that initial tease.

"Part of the exciting thing about the new season is the way Hawley and Winter have envisioned the cosmic version of why the two characters have come together," Katic says.

"It delves into the mythology of Rick's disappearance and memory loss as well as into what inspired Beckett to become a cop in the first place."

Hawley, meanwhile, offered fans his own tease of what's to come via the set snapshot he posted to Instagram this week and which we've featured above.
