American Crime Season 2 Episode 8 Review: The Aftermath

Who else is still trying to catch their breath?
It shouldn't come as a surprise that American Crime Season 2 Episode 8 was just as gripping as American Crime Season 2 Episode 7.
Having parents and victims of LGBT bullying made the episode even more impactful while reminding all of us how important it is to respect each other.
Looking back at American Crime Season 2 Episode 1, we had this story which started out as a sexual assault on a young man Taylor. It wasn't difficult to feel bad for Taylor and the various things he was going through. He never deserved to be treated differently or feel like he was sexually violated.
It also wasn't hard to understand where Taylor's head was at. He was at the end of his rope, and the anger was finally taking over, and our victim turned into the "bad guy."
Do I really think Taylor is a bad guy? No, because the person who brought the gun to school and shot Wes was not the Taylor we met at the beginning of the season.
I understood why Anne was asking Taylor all those questions. As a mother, she wanted to know why her son would make such a tragic decision.
Anne gets a lot of credit for staying strong and trying to get Taylor the help he needs. I'm still on the fence about Sebastian helping her out, but I know he's trying to help out the best way he can.
Speaking of mothers, Lillah could take a few tips from Anne on accepting your children. It was so infuriating hearing her tell Peter how Curt did things to Eric and it turned him gay. Eric is going through his own things. Lillah is choosing to turn her back on her own child.
I was happy to hear Curt acknowledge he had known about what Eric was doing with other men. Thank goodness Curt was there to tell Eric what he needed to hear.
Eric has been so reckless with his choices and needs to learn to accept responsibility. Again, we had a character who needed to hear words of acceptance.
The moment Curt told Eric he would always be there for him, you could see the weight lift off of Eric's shoulders. It was always really difficult to not feel bad for Eric and the things he was going through. This is a kid who was angry because he could never accept who he really was.
Eric's journey has been just as compelling as Taylor's. Eric went from this closeted jock to a person who thought the only way out was suicide to finally being able to accept himself. I was really thrilled when Eric confronted Kevin about what happened with Taylor.
It seems like Kevin has been able to keep the blame off himself, but it was time for someone to finally put him in his place. Eric didn't need to say anything to anyone, he just needed to tell Kevin to man up and take responsibility for his actions, as well.
I didn't agree with everything Dan was saying about Leslie. Despite everything Leslie has done, I didn't see the problem with her not being front and center. She has now been broken down and feels vulnerable. Leslie knew it could have easily been her dead instead of Wes.
Of course, Dan continued to not see the truth of what his players were actually doing to Taylor. It's so frustrating how he wants to turn a blind eye to the behavior of the people on his team; though, I did agree with Dan when he said Leslie should have settled the case a long time ago.
At least Dan was honest with her about his feelings, but he continues to not see what Leslie was talking about. Dan wants to continue talking to Leslie about taking responsibility for her actions, but he doesn't make Becca take responsibility for her own actions.
In the end, Steph wanted to come clean about what Becca was doing and alert the authorities, but Dan refused to listen to her. It's only a matter of time before the truth about Becca selling drugs to Taylor comes out, and I can't imagine what impact it will have on the case.
