Nashville has been canceled.
ABC made the decision not to order a fifth season even though the writers were actively breaking stories for the possibility.
The signs for renewal until today were relatively positive.
There were even new showrunners hired for the upcoming season, Emmy-winning writers and producers Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick.
Along with other bubble series, Castle, Nashville has been one of the most anticipated renewal decisions.
Castle had a great ratings night on Monday, so that may have swayed the decision today.
Nashville did not have a good night last night, and today followed its cancelation.
Does that mean the hotly debated Castle Season 9 will get the green light?
Things are definitely moving in that direction.
Still, it's surprising when Nashville had a great international showing and product placement.
The music sales alone did great business for ABC, as well as the independent tours in conjunction with Nashville.
This does give series stars and hot properties Connie Britton and Hayden Panetierre the freedom for new projects.
There is still one more episode to go before Nashville is off the air for good.
Does this give you higher expectations for the finale?
Are you worried the stories will not be wrapped up to your satisfaction?
