Supergirl Season 1: Coming to The CW!

at .  Updated at .

Despite the fact that everyone knows who Supergirl is, The CW recognizes that not everybody who knows her or the show actually watched it on their sister network.

As such, they're laying down the red cape for Kara Zor-El.

Beginning on Monday, August 1, there will be two-hour blocks of Supergirl Season 1 every Monday night from 8-10 airing until the premiere of Supergirl Season 2 on October 10 at 8/7c.

Stopping Non - Supergirl

For those unfamiliar with the show, here's the official synopsis.

Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC character Kara Zor-El, Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El.

Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret.

Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant.

She works alongside her friend and IT technician Winn Schott and famous photographer James Olsen, who Grant just hired away from the Daily Planet to serve as her new art director.

However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats.

Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

Supergirl airing on The CW seems like a coming home party.

With Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow – three other DC Comics properties – already airing on the network, it seemed like a perfectly good fit for the home of Supergirl.

That became even more evident when The Flash's Barry Allen made a wrong turn in the Speed Force during The Flash Season 2 and met up with Kara. Theirs was an easy friendship right from the start, and fans wanted more.

With crossover events already in the works between the properties, Supergirl landing on The CW is a perfect fit.

It will be interesting to see if the tone of the show changes at all, as Supergirl is easily the lightest of the DC properties currently on the air.

Will a change of network do anything to the show? Would you want it to?

If you haven't had an opportunity to catch up on Supergirl, it's all going to play out before you now. Or, if you can't wait, you can watch Supergirl online, too.

Supergirl Quotes

Braniac-5: Well the good news is, her mind is active and alert.
Alex: Oh, thank God.
Braniac-5: The bad news is, she is very angry.
Winn: Well, I'm sure she loves being trapped inside a mind prison.

You had me fooled, Danvers. I thought you were a soldier. But then I find this out. All the lies you must have told. You have undermined everything that we stand for, all to protect your own sister. Supergirl.
