Timeless Earns Additional Episodes at NBC

Timeless won't be out of time until February.

That's because the new series from Eric Kripke/Shawn Ryan production has been awarded extra episodes that will keep the series on the air until February.

With the very bountiful schedule NBC has waiting in the wings, there just isn't time for anything else, so Timeless will air until February 27, when Taken, an adaptation of the movie, takes over the post-Voice berth.

That brings the full number of episodes for the series to 16.

“Monday nights are critical to our success,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, “and we’re going strong into the rest of the season with the return of The Voice in February followed by the premiere of Taken, along with additional episodes of our great new series Timeless."

"We’re very happy to welcome Gwen Stefani back to The Voice, along with Blake, Adam, and our new coach Alicia Keys. And Taken is a thrilling new series inspired by the hit movie franchise but updated in a very clever way.”

"Timeless is a phenomenal new show that takes the audience emotionally to a completely different place and time each week,” added Jennifer Salke, NBC Entertainment president.

“We’re thrilled to be ordering additional episodes so that we can run the final six hours of the season in a row with no pre-emptions after the new year."

"Our hats are off to Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan for producing one of the most ambitious new shows anywhere on television.”

On our end, we can't wait for Taken to air on February 27.

NBC calls the series a modern-day prequel to the blockbuster feature film franchise that depicts how Bryan Mills [Liam Neeson's character in the movies] developed and sharpened his particular set of skills.

Starring Vikings' Clive Standen and with Luc Busson and Alex Cary (Homeland) among the producers, this should be a good one.

NBC's winter/spring schedule still includes the premieres of Powerless; Trial & Error; Midnight, Texas; Great News; The Blacklist: Redemption, and Marlon, as well as returning seasons of The Carmichael Show and Shades of Blue.

One show that won't be on the schedule, ever, is the Cruel Intentions sequel. NBC finally let the option go so it could be shopped to other networks. They seem to have an embarrassment of riches at the moment, and that's a good move for the series if it's to get made.
