The CW has been known the past few years to renew its shows pretty early in the new year.

Thankfully, they stuck to that tactic and have handed out early renewals to seven shows.

The series being ordered for the 2017-2018 season include The Flash Season 4, Arrow Season 6, Jane the Virgin Season 5, DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 3, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3, Supergirl Season 3 and Supernatural Season 13.

The 100, iZombie, The Originals and Riverdale have yet to premiere, so it would have been surprising if they made the cut for renewals before airing any fresh episodes for the season.

The CW boss, Mark Pedowitz was very positive about The CW's current slate of series.

“Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas,” network boss Mark Pedowitz said in a statement.

“Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long.”

The DC TV superhero series have definitely resonated with viewers. They currently stand as the top four shows on the network and their recent crossover sent all four up double digits in the ratings.

It would have been hard to imagine The CW giving the pink slip to either series... especially with the rumors that a new show could be on the horizon to join them.

Unfortunately, there's no word on which superhero that fifth series might center on, but we'll keep you up to speed on any new developments.

Frequency and No Tomorrow were notably absent from the early renewal, but their chances at coming back are pretty slim when you consider how low they are going in the ratings.

Both series logged just a 0.2 rating among adults 18-49 for their most recent telecasts. Yes, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend logged that same 0.2 rating, but that show is acclaimed by critics and is getting a whole lot of awards love.

It was previously announced that Reign would conclude this year after four seasons, so you still have 16 episodes left with Mary before she bids adieu to Friday nights.

Additionally, The Vampire Diaries will end its eight season run in March.
