Fear the Walking Dead: Renewed for Season 4 with New Showrunners!

Well, isn't this a surprise?

Fear the Walking Dead Season 3 doesn't premiere until Sunday, June 4, but despite a steady decline in ratings since the show first aired, AMC has issued a renewal for the series well before numbers for a news season can weigh into the decision.

They must have faith in the product that's coming forth this summer. That's good news!

In addition to the renewal, AMC also announced that Andrew Chambliss (Once Upon a Time) and Ian Goldberg (Dead of Summer) are boarding Fear as co-showrunners, starting with Season 4.

Additionally, Scott M. Gimple, executive producer and showrunner of The Walking Dead will become an executive producer of Fear the Walking Dead.

“We're very excited to continue the journey of Fear The Walking Dead, and truly look forward to working with the talented team of Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg, and Scott Gimple,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV.

Looking Around - Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 12

“We are thrilled to be joining Fear The Walking Dead and couldn't be more excited to work alongside the wonderful team at AMC on this show,” said Chambliss and Goldberg.

“We love this universe and are truly honored to have the chance to contribute to it.”

In the second half of its second season, Fear the Walking Dead averaged 5.3 million viewers per episode, including 3.4 million adults 25-54 and 3 million adults 18-49 in Nielsen live+3 ratings, firmly establishing Fear as one of the top shows on cable.

Reunited - Fear the Walking Dead

AMC previously announced that Fear the Walking Dead showrunner Dave Erickson would be transitioning off of the show upon completion of production of season 3 to develop new products for AMC Studios.

Something needs to be done to shake things up because the complaints have been fairly high on this series.

Audiences have failed to connect with the characters, and the thing people want to see most is for them to line up one by one to become zombie chow.

Hate watching doesn't have the broad appeal or retain viewers through four seasons.

Fear the Walking Dead is a wholly original companion series to The Walking Dead, the #1 show on television among adults 18-49 for the last five years.

Fear the Walking Dead is executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert, David Erickson and Scott M. Gimple and produced by AMC Studios.
