Marvel's Iron Fist: Renewed for Season 2!

Viewers have not seen the last of Danny Rand in his own series.

According to Marvel TV chief, Jeph Loeb, the Netflix drama has snagged a Season 2 pickup for 13 additional episodes.

Iron Fist Fighting

Iron Fist Season 1 debuted earlier this year and was not met with a warm response from critics. Just 17 percent of critics gave it a positive score on Rotten Tomatoes.

That's a fraction of what the other Marvel TV Universe series achieved on Netflix. The Defenders, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage were all higher than 90 percent approval ratings.

Despite the pacing issues, and lack of intriguing villain, the series boasts a cast that includes Finn Jones (Game of Thrones), Jessica Henwick (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Tom Pelphrey (Banshee) Jessica Stroup (90210), Ramón Rodríguez (The Wire) Sacha Dhawan (24: Live Another Day), Rosario Dawson (Jessica Jones) and David Wenham (Top of the Lake.)

Even with the worse than expected response to the series, there was never really any question about whether it would return.

Being part of the Marvel TV universe and on Netflix is a good position for any show to be in. Iron Fist is set to join Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage in an eight-episode miniseries titled The Defenders, which debuts August 18 on the streaming giant.

It will find the four joining forces to take down a villain played by Sigourney Weaver.

Little else is known about her character, but we will have a review up for The Defenders over the next few days, and we'll be able to delve deeper into the character then.

It's unclear when Iron Fist will return for Season 2, but when you consider the wait for Jessica Jones Season 2 will be almost two years from its Season 1 debut, we won't hold on to hope that we'll get a premiere date in the near future.
