Stitchers Season 3 Episode 9 Review: Kill It Forward

at .

The pieces of the puzzle are beginning to fall into place on Stitchers Season 3 Episode 9 "Kill It Forward."

While the case of the week proved to be rather intriguing with its twist on paying it forward, the umbrella story looming over Stitchers Season 3 stole most of the focus.

And we're more than okay with that.

Seriously, again? - Stitchers Season 3 Episode 9

We'll get to the romantic stuff later because we need to talk about Maggie.

What is she hiding? Besides the whole being an ex-CIA killer thing. Did we know that already? It's hard to keep track of the backstory considering how little it's referenced. But I'm leaning toward no.

Maggie's past came back to haunt her in a big way when a fellow ex-agent turned out to be the mastermind behind a murder for hire business on the Dark Web. Kate gave herself up for an opportunity to take a shot at Maggie.

Did anyone else roll their eyes at the convenient, tidy outcome? This woman had skills, smarts, opportunity, etc., but she needed to turn herself into the authorities to kill Maggie?

Sure. That makes all the sense in the world.

Maggie: I can't change the past.
Kate: Then at least have the decency to be haunted by it.

But we've ignored worse on Stitchers so we can forgive this slight, too, mainly because it gave Maggie and Fisher a chance to deepen their bond.

It also solidified Fisher's decision to stay in LA. Of course, we knew he would make that decision anyway. His reconciliation with his ex-wife felt like a plot convenience from the beginning. Yes, it would be great to see Fisher happy and in love, but not if it means relocating.

As for Maggie, her CIA past was far from the only secret she was keeping from the team. Fisher urged her to tell them the truth about Ivy, but she insisted she needed to protect them.

Protect them from what? Ivy? Stinger? Where are our answers?

Trust Issues - Stitchers Season 3 Episode 9

At this point, I'm with Kirsten. She shouldn't stitch or lift a single finger to help the NSA until they give her answers.

She made a great point about how she, Cameron, and the others put their lives on the line every day. And while Maggie means well, or at least seems to mean well, Kirsten has a right to know the truth about her family.

Ivy obviously made some sort of deal with Maggie to bring in Stinger. She lied when she told her father she got the information from hacking. But there are so many unanswered questions.

Mainly, what's the point of exiling Ivy from the team? Is it so she can play hero and then be magically forgiven for messing with Kirsten's head?

Ivy: You broke into my place?
Cameron: Well, you broke into Kirsten's mind so...

It works in theory, but I'm not sure Cameron will ever be on board with her again. And we know Camille never was in the first place.

Maybe Maggie's worried that the team will want to protect Ivy from Stinger. Maggie does seem to be using her as a sacrificial lamb. Is it wrong that I'm okay with that? I still don't trust Ivy even if it does seem like she's doing the right thing now.

But it's too little too late in my book. Things might have been different if they weren't trying so hard to keep the pieces of this story a secret from the audience.

It's not a twist if we know it's coming.

Serenade - Stitchers Season 3 Episode 9

On a brighter note, Cameron and Kirsten finally had sex!

In between signing Camille up to be a hitman and breaking into Ivy's place, Linus somehow found the time to create the oxytocin blocker needed. Kirsten and Cameron didn't waste a single second getting to the good stuff.

Unfortunately for shippers everywhere, the long awaited scene came as part of a couples' montage. Why, directors, why? I love a montage as much as the next person, but some moments deserve to stand on their own.

And when we wait through almost three entire seasons for the main couple to have a love scene, we would like to see it play out in full without jumping between other scenes.

Camille's New Career - Stitchers Season 3 Episode 9

Unfortunately, this has been an issue with Stitchers Season 3 in general. It's great that there's more romance in the show. I love romance and shipping as much as the next fangirl.

But new couples, even new old couples like Stephanie and Fisher, do not carry the same weight as Cameron and Kirsten. Stop trying to make every romance epic. It's not necessary.

I'm happy Camille and Amanda are back together, even if I'm still not sure why they broke up in the first place. But Camille conquered a major fear stepping onto that stage and singing her heart out.

Good for Amanda for accepting the huge romantic gesture.

Tired of Losing - Stitchers Season 3 Episode 9

So the couples are secure, Maggie promised Kirsten a visit with her mom, and Ivy seems to be laying a trap for Stinger as we head into the season finale.

Will Stitchers Season 3 Episode 10 take the time to let the main story play out? Or will it be another rush job where the case of the week takes most of the hour and leaves us with too little information on the things we care about?

I'm hoping for the former, but sadly, expecting the latter.

Over to you, Stitchers Fanatics! Tell us what you thought of "Kill It Forward!"

Were you surprised by Maggie's past? Did Linus go too far when he used Camille's name on the hitman form? Are you happy for Kirsten and Cameron? Did you like the montage?

Stitchers Season 3 Episode 9 Quotes

Kirsten: We can't be together, Cameron. This isn't a life. What kind of life is this?
Cameron: Kirsten, look at me. As long as we're together, you are my life. If you don't want to stitch, then I don't want you to stitch. If you want to leave, then I'm leaving with you, okay?

Ivy: You broke into my place?
Cameron: Well, you broke into Kirsten's mind so...
