Doctor Who is changing up for Season 11 and that means the show will have its first-ever female time lord.

The exciting announcement was made just a few months ago, and we're intrigued to see the brand new episodes which feature Jodie Whittaker as the elusive character.

The BBC knows fans are dying for any information about the new season, and they have gifted fans in the best way possible.

A picture was released this morning, and it shows Whittaker in character with a scenic backdrop and, of course, the TARDIS is also part of the image.

Could we imagine the show without the TARDIS? That is not the type of show we would like to watch!

Whittaker is taking over the role from Peter Capaldi who will solve his final case in next month's Christmas special which will likely be a heartbreaking affair for fans of the series.

Capaldi's performance gave the show a new lease of life, and it brought with it snappier writing and excellent characters.

With the Doctor having a new face, it means there will be a whole new cast of characters. In fact, the show recently confirmed the addition of three brand new series regulars.

Bradley Walsh (Law & Order: UK)  has been added as Graham, Tosin Cole (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Ryan and Mandip Gill (Hollyoaks) as Yasmin.

Doctor Who Quotes

Only in darkness are we revealed. [...] Goodness is not goodness that seeks advantage. Good is good in the final hour, in the deepest pit, without hope, without witness, without reward. Virtue is only virtue in extremis. This is what *he* believes, and this is the reason above all I love him, my husband. My madman in a box. My Doctor.

Nardole [quoting River Song]

Clara: Do you think I'm pretty?
The Doctor: No, you're too short and bossy and your nose is all funny.
Clara: Good enough.
