They're back!

Jersey Shore made a splash in its return to MTV last night. The revival series secured 2.5 million total viewers and a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49.

The series performed stronger in the 18-34 demo. In that metric it garnered a 1.9 rating which put the show ahead of Grey's Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon to rank is the top show of the night in that demo.

MTV has been struggling to find shows that can pull ratings like the above for some time now, but there's no denying that the series has cooled off some from when it aired from 2009-2012.

At its peak, the original series was hitting close to 9 million viewers on a weekly basis. But the ratings it pulled in last night show there is still a lot of life left in the franchise.

It makes sense then that MTV has already locked the cast down for a second season. That's not to say they will all be able to return.

If you watch Jersey Shore online, you will know that The Situation has been battling some legal issues that could potentially prevent him from appearing in future installments.

Would the show even be the same without the scheming and backstabbing from one of the most notorious reality TV personalities, like, ever?

Elsewhere in the cable landscape, Freeform's Siren (0.6 million/0.2 rating) cooled off in Week two, but remained decent, while Atlanta (0.8 million/0.4 rating) and RuPaul's Drag Race (0.8 million/0.4 rating) were on par with recent airings.
