The Royals Season 4 Episode 6 Review: My News Shall Be the Fruit to That Great Feast

at .

Did we just redeem King Robert on The Royals Season 4 Episode 6? 'Cause It sure felt like it.

First, Jasper found out that his belief that Robert tried to have him assassinated couldn't be further from the truth.

Then, Robert found out that innocent Willow may actually be playing him.

But does that explain all the other villainous things he's done or forgive his manipulative ways?

Let's unpack it all, shall we?

Jasper's dad has been a pretty random addition this season. Did anyone in the palace really buy his terrible accent? It makes me feel better knowing Dutchy knew she was being played this whole time.

His father's motive for crashing at the palace wasn't clear at first until he revealed he was the one that shot Jasper.

GASP, right? How could a father try to take out his own son? In some twisted way, his father believed that shooting him would be a good way of apologizing for being a terrible parent.

I guess his attempt worked because Jasper did, in fact, become a hero in England, got out from under his past and is publicly dating the Princess.

Robert: How are you feeling Jasper?
Jasper: I’ll live…

Jasper's father even forced Robert into making his son a Knight so that the Princess was no longer dating a Commoner.

If you think about it, he's kind of brilliant. Sure, he could have actually killed Jasper, but why think about the negatives and what "could" have happened?

It seems this is that last we'll see of him, for now, and I'm not bothered by that.

I Shot Ya - The Royals Season 4 Episode 6

The characters at the Palace are superfluous so it's great when we can wrap up storylines that never did much for us anyway.

King Robert thought he had Willow wrapped around her finger, but it's entirely possible that she isn't all that she seems to be.

As Eleanor put it, anything is possible in this place.

Her good-girl nature could all be an act, one that she used to lure in Robert and secure herself as the next Queen of England.

Queen: Robert, walk away.
Robert: Don’t tell me to walk away. I’m the goddamn King.
Queen: You’re my goddamn son and this is my goddamn birthday. So, if I tell you to walk away, you’ll goddamn walk away.

Even hitting pause on his proposal from The Royals Season 4 Episode 5 could have been a move so that she didn't look too eager or desperate.

And Eleanor made up her mind rather quickly after talking to Queen Helena who said she never regretted making the decision which means she knew she was going to say yes all along.

At this point, Willow has been handed everything a girl could dream of without really doing much for it.

It's possible Cassandra could simply be jealous and trying to sabotage Willow's relationship because she's a sore loser. By putting these ideas into Robert's head, she's hoping to put a strain on the relationship and have him doubt Willow's loyalty.

If what she's saying is true, though, Willow can't be working solo towards this ultimate goal. I believe she's capable of anything, but she isn't the mastermind behind all of this. She's not that conniving all on her own.

Smokey Eye - The Royals Season 4 Episode 6

I even noticed her makeup was much darker than usual, which could surely be a subtle clue to her darker ways.

And is she really still into Liam? We know she was initially crushing on him when he was set to be King, so it is strange that she's set her sights on the other brother now.

However, Cassandra could have said that because she knows the relationship between the brothers, especially when it comes to women, is rather tense.

She knew it would stir up angry feelings in Robert. If there's some credibility in the claims, this would be the second woman he's lost to his brother who he believes is "lesser than" him.

And it definitely would explain why Willow chimed in during the dinner argument to tell Liam that bringing Katherine was "inappropriate." Who was offended, her or Robert?

She's Playing You - The Royals Season 4 Episode 6

Hopefully, Robert doesn't make any rash decisions based solely on Cassandra's observations because the bros were just beginning to reconcile their relationship.

There is a lot of animosity between the siblings right now there might actually be a third sibling we didn't know about.

Queen Helena's obsession with Hansel von Liechtenstein, Crown Prince of Liechtenstein, has always been a bit peculiar, but I just chocked it up to Hansel being the Kim Kardashian of England.

Dutchy: Oh, well I’m sorry dear, but you absolutely cannot date your brother's ex. It’s poor form.
Liam: So is killing people.

If he's Helena's favorite "reality star," it would make sense that King Robert invited him to the Queen's birthday dinner.

But as it turns out, Hansel might be family. Right before the dreaded, annual balcony appearance, the Queen and Hansel had a heart-to-heart where his accent was completely normal, and he even called her MOM!

Hey Mom! - The Royals Season 4 Episode 6

Was it a term of endearment? Did he call her mom because she is the country's mother? Or is Hansel her illegitimate son with Captain Lacey?

It seemed like Robert wasn't just inviting people for the sake of invitation -- he probably knew who Hansel really was just as he knew Sebastian was having a dalliance with the Queen.

Speaking of Sebastian, is he here to stay? Clearly, Helena cannot resist his charms even though she knows it will blow up in her face when Eleanor finds out.

I wouldn't blame her for it either, it must be very uncomfortable knowing your mother is always sleeping with your friends.

It’s a birthday party darling, not a pity party. Oh, and keep your chin up or the crown slips. And besides, it helps to disguise your advanced age.

Dutchy

Why did Dutchy barge into her daughter's room without knocking? No one needed to see Queen Helena in a maid outfit with pigtails, although, it was kind of hilarious.

In fact, what's up with most of the family just barging into people's rooms? King Robert did the same thing while Eleanor and Jasper were having a private moment. Learn to knock, people!

Who Drank My Champagne? - The Royals

Things may have been uncomfortable in the palace, but being a refugee was considerably worse; the rock-hard food "fit for a King," the communal refrigerator where someone drank his champagne, and Aston Lang, a man who has it out for Cyrus.

Cyrus is quickly learning the world outside of the palace is a cruel place with many enemies!

I'm not sure where they are going with his story aside from the obvious fact that Lang and Cyrus will hook-up and probably come up with a maniacal plan to return to England and take back what's theirs. Whatever that is.

Do you think Robert is good or evil? Is Willow playing him? Will there be a royal wedding anytime soon? Will Katherine and Liam last in the long run? Will Eleanor find out about her mother's secret lover?
