Yellowstone Premiere Breaks Ratings Record

Yellowstone is a hit for Paramount Network.

The Kevin Costner fronted drama may have only debuted last week, but it's been pulling in some solid numbers as far as the ratings are concerned.

In Live + 3 metrics, the series premiere achieved a colossal 5 million viewers. That makes it the top summer drama debut on both cable and broadcast.

In fact, it is ad-supported cable's most-watched scripted drama premiere since The People v O.J. Simpson debuted with 8.3 million viewers back in 2016.

The ratings mark a Paramount Network (fka Spike TV) record, coming in 156% higher than the network's recent Waco miniseries.

In adults 18-49, the opener secured a rock-solid 1.1 rating with three days of DVR factored in.

"The Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders — land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park."

"It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny — where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations."

With a cast that includes the likes of Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly and Wes Bentley, the series looks set to be one of few hits this summer.
