History will be made on Supergirl Season 4.
At the hit drama's Comic-Con panel in San Diego, it was announced that transgender actress Nicole Maines as Nia Nal aka Dreamer.
This news means that Dreamer will be the first transgender superhero.
According to the official description, "Nia is the newest addition to the CatCo reporting team."
"A soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others, Nia’s journey this season means fulfilling her destiny as the superhero Dreamer, much like Kara came into her own as Supergirl."
And that's not all. Another two casting announcements were made during the panel.
April Parker Jones has been added to the cast in the series regular role of Colonel Haley.
"Hardline career military woman Colonel Haley lives and dies by the orders of her commanding officers," reads the character description.
"Dedicated to her country, she always acts in its best interest — even if it’s not her own."
The final new addition to the cast confirmed at the panel for the series is David Ajala, who will recur on Supergirl Season 4 as Manchester Black.
Per the official description, "Manchester Black is the type of guy who brings a knife to a gunfight and still walks away the winner. With a dark past, he easily deflects the brutality of his mission with his charm and sense of humor."
The trio joins previously announced the addition of Sam Witwer as Agent Liberty.
As previously reported, Jeremy Jordan will no longer be series regular, but he is still expected to have a significant presence on the overall arc of the series.
