With The Vampire Diaries and The Originals well and truly over, it's time to look forward to Legacies, the third series in the franchise.

The CW has dropped three new images of the upcoming spinoff, and one of them is bringing back all of The Vampire Diaries feels.

With Matt Davis part of the cast as Alaric Saltzman, it was only a matter of time before he would start to use the training he used on Elena Gilbert all those years ago.

With Hope's power manifesting in crazy ways, it makes sense to have her trained in combat as opposed to using her magical or werewolf abilities to take her enemies down.

When The Originals concluded, Hope had lost her mother and father, and we know that Legacies will pick up the action two years later.

The good thing is that it looks like she and Langdon are still in contact. He first appeared on The Originals Season 5 Episode 12 as a love interest for Hope.

However, he attends Mystic Falls High, meaning he likely has no idea what goes on behind the walls of the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and the Gifted.

While two years have passed, there is a possibility that Hope opened up to him about who she really is at some point during the time jump.

There's only so much pain one person can take, so we sure hope she has someone she can turn to whenever she struggles with what happened to her parents.

With the action taking place in Mystic Falls, we know that Zach Roerig will reprise his role of Matt Donovan on Legacies Season 1 Episode 1.

His return is for one episode, but there's no telling whether he could pop back up down the line. Unless the show is killing Matt off, he should show back up.

Matt is the sheriff of Mystic Falls after all.

We also know that Steven R. McQueen will be stopping by on Legacies Season 1 Episode 3, thanks to a report on TVLine.

Jeremy Gilbert was last seen on The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 16 helping out at the school, so it was only a matter of time before he was slated to appear on the spinoff.

Meanwhile, Paul Wesley will return to the franchise, but he will be directing an episode as opposed to appearing as Stefan.
