Party of Five Reboot Lands Pilot Order at Freeform

The long-gestating Party of Five reboot is moving forward at Freeform. 

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the young-skewing network has placed an order for a pilot of the reboot which will have a deportation twist. 

The original series which aired from 1994 to 2000, and focused on five siblings who become orphans following the death of their parents.

It starred Scott Wolf, Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell, Lacey Chabert Jennifer Love Hewit starred in the original series

The new iteration will follow five Buendias children as they try to navigate a world in which their parents are not part of their lives. 

The reason for this is that the parents are deported back to Mexico.

It comes from original series creators Christopher Keyser and Amy Lippman. 

If the show goes beyond the pilot stage, it will join a slate of series that includes Cloak & Dagger, The Bold Type & Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.

It's hard to imagine the show not making the cut when you consider its pedigree, but it will all come down to how well Freeform execs feel about the pilot. 

Reboots have been dominating the TV landscape over the last few years, and that's in large part down to networks opting to cater to built-in fanbases.

Older shows tend to build up a following over time, so it makes sense that the networks would prefer to travel this route. 

Casting has yet to begin for the potential series, but we'll keep you up to date on new details as they become available.
