Shameless Season 9 Episode 9 Review: BOOOOOOOOOOOONE!

What will become of Fiona?

On Shameless Season 9 Episode 9, the embattled Gallagher found herself plunging into the depths of despair.

She's drinking vodka out of water bottles like it's going out of fashion and lashing out at everyone for the littlest of things.

The Depths of Despair - Shameless Season 9 Episode 9

Whether you love her or hate her, she's in a dangerous place, and she needs to get herself some help before it's too late.

Lashing out in Patsy's is a big issue, and I wouldn't be surprised if Fiona gets relieved of her duties as a result of her outburst.

Hurling plates at her ex was one thing, but blaming customers of sexual harassment? That's going to come back to bite her.

The boxing subplot could have been an excellent way for Fiona to release all of that aggression, but she's currently on the "all men suck" train, and she needs to realize that this is not the case.

The trainer was a bit forward when he asked Fiona out for a drink, but I didn't get the feeling he was interested in her romantically. He seemed more blindsided by the fact that somebody who got their cast off that morning broke his nose.

Hiding Ford's tools was a petty move, but Fiona's rage stemmed from the fact that another man was lying to her. She sure knows how to pick them.

The pivotal moment for Fiona was when she lay on the sidewalk after throwing the tools through Ford's window. It was like she realized she needed to get herself better and rebuild her life.

Knowing that Emmy Rossum is out of the series, it makes me think Fiona is going to leave the South Side behind. Her siblings have grown up to the point that she no longer needs to look after them.

She spent her life raising them, and now she's free to do whatever she wants. Her credit may be destroyed, but she can find a way out of this mess.

Debbie's New Wardrobe - Shameless Season 9 Episode 4

I did laugh out loud at just how mature Debbie is these days. She's taking the whole squirrel fund thing to heart, and it's a perfect plot for the character.

Making everyone pay their way is the best course of action, and while I felt bad for Liam, Debbie was using this as a way to show her brother what it's like in the real world and that he has to make money to survive.

With Fiona leaving, Debbie could step up as the person who keeps the bills and house in order. It would give Debbie something to do because her arcs over the last few seasons have been all over the place.

A lot of the characters have run their course, and I do still think it's time to wrap up the show, but it will be great witnessing Debbie take on this different role if the powers that be are willing to let it happen.

The Hobo Loco alcohol may have been terrible to taste, but the whole storyline surrounding it was even worse.

Keeping the Sperm Warm - Shameless Season 9 Episode 8

The moment the marketing team floated the idea of finding someone who looked homeless, it was obvious the face of the brand could be, and I don't give a damn about it.

Frank is more obnoxious than ever and giving him some more short-term fame will only fuel his neverending ego.

If you watch Shameless online, you know there have been times in which Frank was one of the show's finest characters, but all the storylines surrounding him nowadays scream that the show is going through creative fatigue.

Katey Sagal is one of my favorite actresses, but she's genuinely wasted on Shameless. There's nothing engaging about watching her and Frank scheme their way to happiness.

I'm still in shock about the fact that Carl could potentially be the father to six babies. That's not going to go down well with just about anybody.

Through The Looking Bush - Shameless Season 9 Episode 1

Ingrid not taking her medication is problematic because she's now under the assumption that it will be possible for her to carry six babies to term at once.

That being said, I did chuckle at Ingrid saying Frank can get a job to support his children. This secret is going to come out whenever Frank realizes he can't be bothered trying to please her.

The biggest surprise of this installment is that I found myself growing to like Tammy. Before this hour, she was a one-dimensional character who talked about sex every other scene.

Never in a million years did I think she would get such a big backstory. It makes me think the powers that be are keeping her around for the long haul, meaning she will probably wind up in a serious relationship with Lip.

Lip Contemplates His Future - Shameless Season 9 Episode 9

I'm not sure it's the right time for Lip to get into a serious relationship. He's still a recovering addict, and he found himself getting jealous the moment the man who wanted to marry Tammy returned.

My one true hope here is that a potential relationship doesn't trigger Lip to fall off the wagon. Fiona's already imploded her life, and I can't deal with another Gallagher doing the same.

"BOOOOOOOOOOOONE!" was a big step-up in quality, but the show is still lacking the spark that made it one of the best shows on TV.
