A Billions star is making a beeline for NBC.

Malin Akerman has joined the cast of NBC drama pilot Prism which focuses on a murder trial, with each episode being told from the perspective of a different key person involved.

“A provocative exploration of a murder trial in which every episode is told through the perspective of a different key person involved," reads the official logline.

"Each new version of the facts ratchets up the mystery and the suspense, calling into question everything we have seen so far and asking is the right person on trial?"

"Driven by an ensemble of complicated characters, the show lets the audience ask if truth matters less than who can tell the most compelling story.”

Akerman is on board to play Rachel Lewis, public defender who will stop at nothing to save her clients who are being put int he frame from crimes.

While Akerman's casting on the pilot would make it seem like she's leaving Billions behind, that is not the case.

Instead of her character being written out, Akerman will appear on a recurring basis should the show be renewed for a potential fifth season.

Billions Season 4 is set to premiere March 17 on Showtime, and Akerman will be on that season as a regular, so it's good news for fans of Lara.

Daniel Barnz will pen the pilot of Prism, and will executive produce alongside Ben Barnz, Julie Weitz, and Carol Mendelsohn will executive produce.

The series does sound like a big swing ... especially for a broadcast network, but depending on the rest of the cast, it could be a hit.

That said, it's becoming more difficult for the broadcast networks to launch brand new series, and that could explain why there has been an unflux of reboots and revivals over the past few years.

"When everyone is out for revenge, no one is safe," reads the official logline for Billions Season 4.

"This is never more true than in season four of BILLIONS. Bobby Axelrod (Lewis) and Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti), former enemies, and Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff), the chief counselor to each, have come together to form an uneasy but highly effective alliance, aimed at the eradication of all their rivals, including Grigor Andolov (guest star John Malkovich), Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillon), Brian Connerty (Toby Leonard Moore) and Waylon ‘Jock’ Jeffcoat (guest star Clancy Brown)."

"Ambition and betrayal have long been at the heart of BILLIONS, and this season all the characters find out exactly how high a price they’ll have to pay to satisfy those needs."

"The series also stars David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Kelly AuCoin, Jeffrey DeMunn and Malin Akerman, along with new guest stars Samantha Mathis, Kevin Pollak, Jade Eshete and Nina Arianda."
