What in the world was that ending? Magnus? Honey? Are you okay?

Every fairytale that's ever been written warns that magic always comes with a price. On Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15, it appears as if Magnus is doomed to pay it.

Group Breakfast - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15

Losing his apartment to Lorenzo wasn't the only consequence Magnus had to face with the return of his powers. An apartment seemed like a small price to pay for having the world at your fingertips.

But there's no arguing that Magnus' home held a sentimental value that cannot easily be replaceable.

Magnus and Alec had so many beautiful memories there that it's a real punch in the gut knowing that Lorenzo only wanted the apartment as a power move.

Alec taking Magnus breakfast in bed is a nice change, but the rules on downworlders staying at the Institute are clear, and not even Alec can get past them.

The way the Shadowhunters were treating Magnus was uncalled for, especially after the number of times Magnus has saved their lives.

Extended Visit - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15

They weren't rude per se, just a bit standoffish. The Shadowhunters made it clear that Magnus didn't belong with them, and even Underhill had a few things to say about it.

I'm not sure having you move in here is such a great idea.

Just because Alec is head of the Institute, doesn't mean that he can break the rules. He does have to follow them to set an example for those below him, so some of the points brought up against Magnus are valid.

However, the rule is plain stupid and shouldn't exist in the first place. But if Alec can't follow the rules of the Institute, it may raise the question of whether or not he is the right person to lead it.

Pancake Day - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15

We all know that there's no one better suited for the job than Alec, but it's impossible to trust the Clave, and who's to say they wouldn't find a way to replace Alec in the blink of an eye?

Despite the living situation, Magnus and Alec managed to have some adorable moments.

Magnus: You know it's not too late to go out for breakfast, right?
Alec: Miss pancake day? No way.

Alec's amused face, when he realized Magnus was jealous, was adorable.

The thing that makes it so perfect is that both Alec and the audience know there is nothing to make Magnus jealous. Alec is head over heels in love with his magical warlock boyfriend.

Deciding to move in together has been something the audience has been waiting for for a while now. But of course, Magnus collapses when they decide to take this giant step forward in their relationship.

The bloody nose from Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 14 wasn't a fluke, and there's something seriously wrong with Magnus. Whatever Lorenzo did to give him back his magic had some severe side effects.

But was Lorenzo aware of the potential consequences? And will he do anything to help?

Heidi was another major issue on Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15. She's a double agent, but the only person she's looking out for is herself.

A Second Chance - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15

Alec was inclined to accept Heidi's apology in exchange for the vampires who massacred the werewolf pack, but Isabelle wasn't having any of it.

Alec wasn't there when Heidi kidnapped Simon's family and forced Simon to do something that would change the way he looked at himself forever.

She held Simon's family hostage!

Isabelle knows the kind of master manipulator Heidi is, but Alec has put bringing in the vampires responsible above all else.

Suspicions - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15

Maia and Simon's reaction to Alec's decision is fair, and it's hard to blame them for being frustrated with him.

The New York vampires were pawns, and Alec granted immunity to the main culprit. Is it wrong that we were cheering at the top of our lungs when Maia killed her?

Maia is just as clever as she is tough, and her plan to bait Heidi was a stroke of genius.

Even Alec admitted that technically no laws were broken since Heidi was the one who attacked her.

Alec and Maia - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15

For a minute, it seemed like a huge problem had finally gotten solved, but Simon wasn't in agreement with Maia or her methods.

That doesn't make this okay Maia! There's a system for a reason. And if we keep breaking the rules, what makes us better than her?

As glad as we were that Heidi was out of the picture, Simon does make a good argument. If Maia can kill whoever she wants out of revenge, how does that make them any better than people like Heidi?

Aline had some fantastic scenes, and despite her opposition to Clary, it's hard not to love her.

Fans of the book will know how easy it is to get attached to the character. Aline may be stubborn and downright lethal, but she is also a fiercely loyal badass.

Clary losing control on Aline was the last thing viewers could've seen coming. Unless it's in training or self-defense, it's hard to picture Clary hurting a fly.

Aftermath - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15

She's such a kindhearted and loving character, so something inside of her has undoubtfully snapped for her to react in such a way.

Clary's internal struggle with her brother affected her a lot deeper than anyone realized, and Luke's determination to plead guilty to the massacre seemed to push her over the edge.

Luke: Clary, you know that I will always love you.
Clary: Then don't leave me. Please, Luke. Please, not now. I need my dad.

Thankfully, Jace puts Clary above all else and is determined to help her; however he can. Next stop: the Silent Brothers.

Consoling - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15

Stray Thoughts

  • Sizzy? Are you there? Or were the events of the Seelie Court just a dream? We're waiting.
  • Raphael has come a long way from the beginning of the series, and it's great to see him atone for his mistakes.
  • The final scene between Raphael and Isabelle felt necessary. So much was left unresolved between them, but now they can finally close that chapter of their lives and move on to bigger and better things.
  • Now that we have Aline, can Helen make an appearance?
  • It feels like a weird time to have tension between Maia and Simon. It'll be interesting to see how it's resolved.
