Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 15 Review: What Just Happened to Magnus??

Be warned, we do have some light teases in store for you below, but who doesn't love a tease or two?

Look Who's Back - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 16

Alec is desperate. And we mean that very literally.

If you think you've seen him desperate before, just wait. This is hands-down the most emotionally destroyed Alec had ever been throughout the entirety of Shadowhunters.

Alec isn't just blaming Lorenzo for his boyfriend's condition, but he's also taking the blame upon himself. He will do anything to save Magnus, even it means resorting to begging.

In all honesty, it almost feels like the Shadowhunters writers asked each other "how do we make Shadowhunters fans as emotional as possible?" and then multiplied those ideas by a hundred.

Prepare to see the fierce warrior Alec Lightwood reduced to tears. Or was that us? Our tears all merged together at some point.

And the final scene. The final scene. That's all we're saying.

Bedside - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 16

After lashing out at Simon, Clary is ready to get rid of her rune once and for all. There's a darkness inside of her that she can't control, and she'll do whatever it takes to vanquish it.

But if even the Silent Brothers can't do anything to help Clary, can anything be done at all?

Jace, Simon, and Isabelle all aid Clary in her endeavor, and make a plan that involves going to the source of the problem. And that may or may not involve a certain mother of all demons.

Jace isn't too keen on doing anything that could put Clary in danger. In fact, he's avidly against it, but even he can't deny that they're out of options.

Helping Hand - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 16

As seen in a sneak peek of Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 16, Simon and Isabelle go hunting for assistance.

While they're on their mission, they make a pinky promise to never fall in love again. And it just so happens to be Isabelle's first pinky promise ever.

Shadowhunters just don't get out much do they?

It's hard not to laugh, because from the moment they make their "sacred vow," it's all too obvious it's about to be broken.

Maybe we're just biased, but are these two already crushing on each other? Or maybe they have been the whole time.

And then we have Jonathan, who continues to just be the worse.

The problem is we love Luke Baines and his incredible acting skills so much, that we can't help but have a hate/love relationship with every scene he's in.

We're caught between "UGH, Jonathan just did that," and "WOAH, Luke Baines just did THAT."

Lilith may love Jonathan unconditionally and see him as her son, but Jonathan definitely does not feel the same way.

Mother and "Son" - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 16

He believes his only real family is his sister, and just like usual, there is nothing he won't do to get to Clary.

Jonathan, can you please just give it up and leave her alone already?

There's also an awesome fight scene that manages to bump the entire episode up a thousand levels. Which seemed impossible because Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 16 was already at an 11/10 rating.

Something Needs to Be Done - Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 16

It is somehow the most amazing and most stressful thing that we've ever seen on the show. It's incredible, yet awful. Or awful, yet incredible?

You'll be simultaneously screaming and holding your breath.

Overall, the episode was absolutely stellar. If you're hoping to feel every possible emotion in existence at once, Monday is your time to shine. Or your time to be completely destroyed. You'll be both, but one more so than the other.

Teases:

  • One of the many awesome quotes: "All clear. Not a rat in sight." "My hero."
  • Isabelle Lightwood, the cutest Shadowhunter in existence, just does not get pinky swears.
  • Maryse and Luke are precious and deserve to be protected at all costs.
  • Jace AND Simon are looking out for their girls.
  • Malec fans, I know we mentioned this before but prepare yourselves for the ending scene. And the beginning scene. Also the middle scenes. Actually, just prepare yourselves for all the scenes.
