The Resident Season 2 Episode 20 Preview: A Powerful, Haunting Hour You Cannot Miss!

at .  Updated at .

The Resident broke onto the scene as a medical series which got under people's skin by taking a hard look at the pitfalls in the healthcare system.

The Resident Season 2 has since evolved into one of the best medical dramas with its blend of hard-hitting topics and action that makes one feel as though they're watching a movie.

It's unapologetically unabashed and in your face while taking on everything from upcoding, to killer doctors for profit, and the corruption found in the medical device industry. It's as illuminating as it is addictive.

The Resident Season 2 Episode 20, however, is a step above the rest. It's an hour which highlights how the series has found its footing in the sophomore season, and arguably the best hour the series has churned out to date.

It's less brash but still bold, and as a result, it creeps up on the viewer in an unexpected way. The tone of the hour isn't as aggressive or flashy as we're accustomed to with this series, but its messages sink in nonetheless, maybe more than ever before as a result.

It's one of the finest hours of the series to date and an unforgettable one in which others will be talking about.

1. We Get CoNic Resolution

The Resident Season 2 Episode 19 left CoNic fans feeling unsettled and trying to figure out what the hell was going to happen to their favorite couple. There was some uneasiness as they exchanged "I love you's" and parted ways with the promise of having an important talk. Well, the hour doesn't leave us hanging, thank god. It wastes no time getting into that important talk, and it gets real and fast. It's one of the most honest and direct conversations the pair has ever had, and both individuals get to say their piece in a mature manner and decide what the future holds for them.

2. Devon is the MVP

I'll admit, I was just saying I wanted and needed more from Devon this season. His arc with Julian wasn't the most compelling nor did it place him in the best light, which sucks, since Devon is a personal fave. Where Devon shines most is when he's with his patients. Know that without a shadow of a doubt, it's one of the strongest episodes for Devon throughout the entire series and Manish Dayal's performance is exceptional. It not only put the spotlight on Devon's likable traits and all the reasons we love him, but it highlighted Devon's ability to overcome adversity and his growth. He'll move you to tears and make you proud.

3. Nic's Uphill Battle

Nic has been slowly unraveling all season as we've watched her struggle with panic attacks, stress, her relationship with Conrad, and her relationships with her sister and father. She has a lot going on, and it's starting to show. Things don't seem to get easier for Nic or her family, and it'll be interesting to see what happens with her during the rest of the season.

4. Can We Keep Kit Forever?

Jane Leeves has killed it this season as Kit Voss, and she does it again during this powerful episode. She gives another stunning performance and captures a sense of frustration and hopelessness that has become all too familiar and is all too relatable. She has some great lines and questions that she delivers with such raw intensity and emotion, you want to reach through the screen and hug her.

The Resident Season 2 Episode 20 Quotes

Nic: I learned to take care of myself.
Conrad: I think holding up the world is your cross.

Conrad: Looks like we're finally doing this.
Nic: Looks like it. You first.
Conrad: Oh, okay. Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night and realized something you never understood before?
Nic: Uh, I guess. I mean not often, but yeah.
Conrad: I'm built to keep moving forward. If there is a mountain, I'll climb it. If there is a race, I'll run it. But what I don't do is stay in the same place...
Nic: That's what you think we're doing.
Conrad: I think, Nic, I think I want something you don't want. Movement towards our future. I'd marry you, Nic, but I don't ask because you don't even want to live together.
Nic: Why are you putting all this pressure on me now?
Conrad: Why is making more of a commitment to me a burden?
