Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3 Review: The Honeymoon

at .

Did we always know Cassie loved cake that much?

On Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3, Cassie seemed to enjoy the many different flavors of chocolate cake on her winery honeymoon with Sam than she did the wine.

They also got a good workout strolling through the vines and helped the winery owners through a family problem. Merriwick magic is always in use!

A Honeymoon Laugh - Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3

Cassie and Sam are finally married, and they even took a beautiful honeymoon.

Have you ever noticed how often on television the honeymoon is either entirely overlooked or viewers get to be no part of it?

Strolling Through the Vines - Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3

For many people, the honeymoon signifies the beginning of their romantic life as a couple, and how they spend their time after the wedding sets the stage for how they'll love and respect each other for a long time to come.

We've always known Cassie and Sam share a special bond, but I really appreciated that we got to see them away from family and friends and completely tuned into each other.

Good Witch Review: The Forever Tree Pt. 1

So many of their dates in the past have been waylaid by events that coincided with their attempts to appreciate each other.

At the winery, even while they remained connected with home and met new friends with new issues, their focus was first and foremost on each other.

A Quick Honeymoon Kiss - Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3

With the winery owners struggling to keep the place afloat and one sibling across the country too far to be of much help, Cassie used her magic to guide them to the decisions that were best for them.

She shared with everyone that she's a glass-half-full kind of gal, and even if she wasn't charming the situation, her general enjoyment of life is infectious.

The more time she spent with Alex, the daughter of one of the winery owners, the more Alex's father, began to realize his life was too stressful and keeping him from the things he used to love.

Cassie and Sam make a terrific pair because while she's working on people's mental state, he's ensuring their bodily health is up to snuff.

They have a terrific two-person mind and body wellness approach to everyone they meet!

A Honeymoon Patient - Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3

There was something that happened during the honeymoon that irked me just a bit.

We learned straight away that Alex loved doing things old-school, and she used a film camera to take her photos. It was something she and Cassie admired about each other, their respect for the past.

There's nothing quite like a family tradition. Sometimes thinking about yesterday can get us through to tomorrow.

But when Alex got upset about the future of the winery and took off into the woods for some solace, Cassie found her by looking at Alex's Instagram account to see where she had been most recently.

That wouldn't work in Alex's case unless she also had a film lab and a scanner with her in the woods. You cannot take a photo and upload it to Instagram from a film camera!

Yes, it's the little things. Cassie could have used another way to realize that's where Alex had probably gone. Instagram was a bad choice.

Stomp on Those Grapes! - Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3

Breakups usually happen at the most inoppertune times.

It was terrible timing for Noah to break up with Grace, but it was also a good experience for Grace to deal with the breakup alone.

There will come a time when she has to count on herself to get her through her problems, and it was good practice.

Everybody wishes they could fast forward through the pain of a breakup, but it's not like we can set our clocks ahead.

Using magic to help heal her broken heart seemed to be working for Grace, but she went overboard jumping over the pain.

Abigail said all the right things and got Grace to reluctantly accept the pain as a learning experience. But hey, they had a lot of good muffins to eat, too!

Mayor Devon at his Desk - Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3

Abigail's fundraiser for the fire department got bowled over by Mayor Davenport of Blairsville.

It's pretty obvious he has a thing for her, and he takes the widest way around showing her his interest. He's also compelling her to be a better mayor for Middleton, though, so it's a win/win.

When Calls the Heart Finale Review: Two of Hearts

It's funny that Abigail says she doesn't care much for people and their problems like potholes because like her cousin, she goes out of her way to charm their lives for the better.

Even though she doesn't admit to liking her position as mayor, Abigail is very good at it. Her combination of charm and intelligent pragmatism ensures that even when something goes wrong, the best outcome will result.

Abigail Bathed in Light - Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3

The way Donovan inspires Abigail is refreshing. She's often been bending in past relationships, but with Donovan (even though they're not in a relationship), their interactions drive the other to achieve excellence.

But what the heck is that deal with the curse??

Martha: You're playing with fire. He is a Davenport, and you are a Merriwick.
Abigail: I know where you're going with this, but I don't have the energy.
Martha: Your romance is doomed!
Abigail: Because of a 200-year old curse?
Martha: Yes! When Patience broke off her engagement to Roderick, it was the beginning of the end for every Merriwick and Davenport couple ever since!

Are Patience and Roderick going to stick a fork in what's emerging with Abigail and Donovan? That would not be cool, you guys.

But Martha usually knows everything, so it's definitely a concern. Martha had her own issues, but she was still thinking of Abigail.

Martha discovered she had an unexpected weakness when she got the opportunity to audition for the community access television show.

It was something nobody could have ever imagined -- Martha had stage fright! The camera started rolling, and for once in her life, Martha was at a loss for words.

That situation brought to light my second niggle of the episode.

Theodore refused Martha's request to redo her audition because it was unfair to the others who auditioned if she got a do-over. But when Abigail paved the way for Martha to take the stand and redeem herself in front of the elite of Middleton and Blairsville, he acquiesced and gave her the job.

Posing While Stomping Grapes - Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3

Why was that fair when a re-audition was not? If anything, it would be even more unfair because the average person doesn't get the opportunity to attend fundraisers of that sort. So, yeah, that made no sense to me.

When Vincent caught the bouquet on Good Witch Season 5 Episode 2, I had a sneaking suspicion that it would mean he and Stephanie would get together.

After all, Cassie usually arranges situations that people don't recognize but are the best for them.

Stephanie: Well, well, well. If it isn't the man who stole the wedding bouquet from those of us who actually wanted it.
Vincent: It's not like I dove for it. It just kind of magically floated to me.

Stephanie has wanted to find the love of her life for a while. She keeps kicking the tires on various men, but they always disappoint her in the end.

She desperately wanted to catch that bouquet as an indication she was on the right track with her love life, possibly even pairing with Reverend Adam.

But Vincent catching it ensures that Stephanie could get her wish of marriage from that bouquet by taking a completely unexpected route to get there.

Plus, if Stephanie and Vincent get together, she'll be family. That's how it should be, right?

Cassie in the Dark - Good Witch Season 5 Episode 3

That's not to say that an emerging attraction between Stephanie and Vincent will lead to marriage, but there is a reason he caught the bouquet. Remember, things do not normally happen on Good Witch without reason.

And while Stephanie looked longingly at Adam while he was outside the window when Vincent was asking her on a date, that will probably be just a fork in the road.

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega on Picture Perfect Mysteries: Newlywed and Dead, Parenting, & More!

In a matter of a couple of conversations, Vincent and Stephanie discovered they had a lot in common, and the same wasn't true of her and Adam. Yes, he was interested in her, but his hesitation after a bad breakup didn't sit well with her.

Even if she feels a pull toward him because he's attractive and kind, she needs to focus on a deeper connection, and that seems to be forming with Vincent.

And there you have it. Another successful episode of Good Witch come and gone!

Maybe we'll learn more about Nick's burgeoning friendship with Tyler as time goes on.

Everybody wishes they could fast forward through the pain of a breakup, but it's not like we can set our clocks ahead.

Cassie: I don't think anything could have made this more perfect.
Sam: I saw cake over there.
Cassie: Oh! I stand corrected.
