Everything Is Coming Up Brady at HGTV

When we initially posted about A Very Brady Renovation on HGTV, the article took off.

There are a few times when initial support for a series matches the ratings that result. This Is Us achieved that when their first trailer took off like it was a blockbuster movie.

Well, the Brady Bunch pays dividends, too, both in ratings and with digital performance.

Brady Expansion

The excitement about renovating such an iconic structure was the real deal.

A Very Brady Renovation on HGTV Will Blast to the Past for Historic Makeover

With all of the adult Brady children returning and an all-star HGTV cast of renovators and design artists, fans are ravenous to see the structure brought to life.

When the house went on the market for the first time in 50 years, it sparked a bidding war. Even Lance Bass was interested in buying the famed home.

Brady Landing

But HGTV won the bidding war, and it sparked in them an idea almost crazy in its scale -- and its brilliance.

Everyone knew that the house wasn't the same on the inside as what Brady Bunch fans imagined -- all of that was by the miracle of a sound stage.

When the HGTV group first entered the house, they discovered that the project was even bigger than they imagined.

Hard at Work in Brady House

While many sound stages have been modeled after real homes, modeling a real home after the sound stage experience has to be a first.

If you watched the premiere, you know what it entailed to make it happen.

And yes, a lot of you watched when it aired on Monday night! How many, you ask?

Can you believe 8.1 million total viewers tuned into to see the magic begin?

The 25-54 demo rating was 1.43, a massive 160 percent leap from the same time slot two years ago, and up a whopping 211 percent from six weeks ago.

So yes, a mega-overhaul expanding a small home by adding 1,000 additional square feet to accommodate fictional rooms while not modifying the iconic view from the street is good business.

“We knew A Very Brady Renovation would exceed every expectation,” HGTV president Jane Latman said in a statement. “This initial ratings and digital performance report has been nothing short of impressive, and our entire team is celebrating.

HGTV.com offers fans a bunch of exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the project, and it's leading the digital support for the series.
