Good Christian Bitches Reboot in Development at The CW

The CW is not giving up on a reboot of Good Christian Bitches.
Eleven months after it emerged that a reboot of the ill-fated ABC series was in the works, comes the word that the network is planning a different take on the series, which is based on Kim Gatlin's novel of the same name.
Now, Deadline is reporting that a new take would move the action to high school, focusing on a private Christian academy in Dallas.

It would follow a new girl on campus finding herself on a collision course with three good Christian girls who blame her for ruining their lives, starting a war that "stokes the student body's social divides."
ABC initially adapted the semi-autobiographical series in 2012, but the series did not stand the test of time.
It starred Leslie Bibb as a widowed mother who returned to her Dallas neighborhood where she grew up, eyeing a fresh start.
But the women she went to school with did not want that to happen and set out to make her life a living hell.
Jordon Nardino, who co-produced that series, is on board to write and executive produce this new stab at a TV series.
Darren Star and Aaron Kaplan, who also worked on the original series, will serve as executive producers.
It's great that this new series will retain some of the behind the scenes talent, but we need to remember that there was a much different take on the book in the works at The CW last development season.
That iteration was said to focus on the clergy and parishioners of Flock, a church in Austin where “prayers and worship music cover up a multitude of sins and secrets.”

It never made the cut to land on the schedule for 2019-20, but the network did state that it had been pushed to the next development season.
Whether this new take will have what it takes to get on the 2020-21 schedule, we don't know.
