The NCIS: New Orleans team is pressing on without Christopher LaSalle (Lucas Black), following his shocking death on NCIS: New Orleans Season 6 Episode 6

Not well.

Relaxing in NOLA - NCIS: New Orleans Season 1 Episode 1

NCIS: New Orleans Season 6 Episode 7, which aired Tuesday on CBS, picked up in the aftermath of the death.

To the surprise of nobody, the team was kept from active duty for a few weeks to cope with the huge loss.

They were told that a return to work was off the cards until they had been cleared to do so by an NCIS psychologist. You know, standard protocol.

Loretta Wade (CCH Pounder) tried to make everyone believe she was fine, but she was annoyed that the team put themselves in such a precarious situation as part of the job.

There were a lot of heartbreaking scenes, but was at the church by the conclusion of the episode, and using it as a place to remember her fallen co-worker.

Pride (Scott Bakula) was too busy doing other things to mourn the loss of his friend, but that doesn't mean he wasn't cut up about it.

He arrived at the church to help Loretta with her grief and revealed that he was struggling to put it in the past. There, he and Loretta had a heart-to-heart.

The task of going through LaSalle's old case files was handled by Gregorio (Vanessa Ferlito) and Sebastian (Rob Kerkovich). Still, it was no easy task, especially when Gregorio pointed out that LaSalle's handwriting was not the best.

Even though they were hurting, they still managed to include a little bit of lighthearted humor. That helped soften the blow.

This particular installment had Gregorio at the front and center, and she put her life on the line to save others.

Ultimately, Gregorio realized that processing the death of a loved one was not something to be done alone.

Hannah (Necar Zadegan) fretted about her daughter losing her mother if she was killed on the job. That feeling was with her for the entire episode, and it was a natural one to have given the circumstances.

“Proud to play a character in law enforcement," Black said on social media after his final episode.

"One that represents law enforcement in a positive and uplifting way Sacrificing his life to serve the people and keeping peace."

He continued, "Thank you all! Really appreciate the love and support from you! My time on NCIS: New Orleans was an amazing experience!”
