All the Craziest Moments from the Riverdale Fall Finale

at .

Riverdale is known for its crazy storylines, and given that this was the midseason finale, we were expecting the cream of the crop.

And we were not disappointed.

Take a look back at the wildest moments of the night.

Caution: spoilers ahead.

And don't forget that you can read the full review of Riverdale Season 4 Episode 9, too. We've even linked to it for you!

Declaring War - Riverdale

1. Polly Clawed off a Nurse's Face

We haven't seen Polly for a hot minute.

If I'm being exact, I think the last time we saw her was when she tried to drown Alice as part of some Farmie "rebirth" ritual.

When we finally caught up with her, she was tied up to a bed after disfiguring a nurse at Shady Grove named Betty.

Yes, disfiguring.

2. Alice Tries to Attack her Daughter with a Butcher Knife

Honestly, the headline says it all. Both Alice and Polly went full psycho after picking up a phone call that hypnotized them into attempting to kill Betty.

Somehow, there's a logical explanation.

3. Tangerine, Tangerine, Tangerine

Anyone else wondering if there's some unrevealed backstory to the word tangerine? Does Betty hate tangerines? Did she give them to a student that was allergic?

Or is the word innocent enough to hide the fact that it hypnotizes people into turning into Betty and attempting to kill her dark side aka her?

In Betty's case, that means she'd have to kill herself, which was all part of The Farm's, Edgar's, and Evelyn's plan. Seriously, how is she still getting phone privileges?

4. Cheryl Gassing Thistlehouse

While gassing the house up maybe have been a bonkers idea, it worked to snuff out the darkness hiding within the brick walls of Thistlehouse: Penelope.

Cheryl figured out it was her mother who was gaslighting her in hopes that she'd lose her mind because of the Julian doll.

Who knew a little roach gas was all she need to see clearly?

5. Archie Beating up Hooligans with The Sheriff/Serpent

Nothing like a father/Sheriff/Serpent teaming up with a high school student with anger issues to put the town's criminals in check.

If this seemed like a bad idea from the getgo, that's because it was.

There was no way this little escapade was going to end well for anyone.

FP should have known better.

6. Someone Got SHOT at Pop's Again...

They say lightning never strikes the same place twice, but oh, it did. Mr. Jones fared much better than Archie's father did when he got shot by a masked gunman at Pop's.

But here's an idea, maybe Riverdale needs to rethink its conceal and carry laws.

Too many people are getting shot up while scarfing down burgers and a milkshake.

7. Penelope's Jealousy of Cheryl Got the Best of Her

If Cheryl attempting to gas her mother wasn't weird enough, things got weird when Penelope admitted that her hatred for her daughter stemmed over her jealousy of Cheryl's relationship with the late Jason's mummified corpse.

She's jealous of her dead son.

These parents need therapy just as much as their children.

8. Archie Doesn't Learn His Lesson

This plotline wasn't as crazy as it was annoying. Archie just can't help himself, can he?

Dodger and Darla were on their way out of town, and he still had to get the last punch.

If his parents, the Sheriff, his friends, and his therapist can't talk any sense into him, maybe the kids that look up to him can.

If Darla wasn't screaming for Archie to stop, Dodger would have been a dead man.

9. Cheryl Locked Her Mom in a Bunker

Riverdale is a town where teens rule their parents.

And that means, anything goes even making your mother a prisoner in a bunker previously used for a deadly game of D&D, sex, and hiding Archie.

I can't say Penelope didn't have it coming, though.

10. Betty Tries to Kill Her Shadow Self

I never want to see that scene with poor Caramel the cat again.

Also, since when is Charles a licensed therapist, psychologist, or someone who can help Betty get rid of her dark side?

Betty needs to stop trusting people with ill intentions.

The fact that she broke a mirror meant that there's some darkness still lurking deep down inside.

11. Cheryl Buries Her Brother Again

If we're looking at the bigger picture, then this might be the smartest thing Cheryl has done this whole season.

It's long overdue at this point. But how did no one question why she had her brother's body preserved in the house for so long? Is this normal in Riverdale?

RIP Jason ... finally.

12. Betty Kills Jughead

This is a joke, right? Jughead's going to pop up and yell 'surprise,' right?

We cannot accept that Betty blacked out and gave Dark Betty control long enough to kill her boyfriend.

You're telling me that they all survived the Black Hood, the Gargoyle King, and Stonewall Prep only for Betty to be the killer?

Riverdale needs to take this hiatus to rethink the direction of the show because none of us want this.

Riverdale Season 4 Episode 9 Quotes

FP: Hey, wake up, Red.
Archie: Mr. Jones? What are you doing here?
FP: Investigating a vigilante. Now, be honest with me. Is that you?
Archie: Yeah, it is. Not going to arrest me, are you?
FP: I should. What the hell do you think you're doing?
Archie: Helping. People are scared to call you, or the cops, so I set up a hotline.
FP: What happens if you get hurt -- or worse.
Archie: People die on the side of the road changing tires, Mr. Jones. At least I die with a shred of honor.
FP: What a load of smug BS. You think that's going to comfort your mom?

FP: Why aren't you focused on the center, protecting these kids?
Archie: I am, but trouble shows up here just about every other day, starting with the Dickinsons, who are still out there, by the way.
