Dynasty Season 3 Episode 8 Review: The Sensational Blake Carrington Trial

at .  Updated at .

There was absolutely no order in the court on the midseason finale of Dynasty.

And that's exactly what we expected considering the new and improved Alexis Carrington Colby made her epic return on Dynasty Season 3 Episode 8.

DA Erica Brown truly had an ace up her sleeve when it came to the secret witness.

Blake's Trial Begins - Dynasty

Though Alexis' moment of glory was brief, there's no doubt she's going to put a wrench in Blake's murder trial when episodes return in 2020.

Blake and Anders prematurely celebrated his win, but Alexis serves as a reminder that he's made plenty of enemies over the years that will gladly watch him go down.

Blake: It's almost like you planned this.
Fallon: Who would do such a thing?
Blake: I would. Which is how I know you did.

Elaine Hendrix is a perfect new Alexis.

Maybe it's because she's been vying for this role since embracing the gold-digging socialite Meredith Blake on the Parent Trap in 1998, or maybe it's because she looks like a slightly older Fallon.

Whatever it is, it's working for her.

Unfortunately, Alexis' testimony won't just hurt Blake, it'll hurt Anders by proving that he lied under oath about killing Mack as "self-defense."

Oh, Anders.

Anders' loyalty is impressive but it's misplaced and naive.

He thinks of Blake as a son, which explains why he'd perjure himself, but Blake doesn't deserve his kindness, especially not at the expense of Kirby.

The Truth Is... - Dynasty Season 3 Episode 8

Blake has always been a devious person who would throw anyone under the bus to protect himself. This trail proved that he is the monster the public is painting him out to be.

He destroyed Fallon (although, she didn't do herself any favors by throwing the gavel) with the spoiled brat narrative and then threatened and exiled Kirby.

Sammy: Not to bet against the house, or, the Manor in this case, but didn't they find Mack wrapped in a body bag with your DNA on it?
Blake: Oh, a drop of DNA will never hold up in court against my army of lawyers.
Sammy: And the justice system wins again.

None of that is okay. If Fallon is acting like a "chip off the old Blake," it's because she's been exposed to this behavior her whole life.

However, Fallon will always be her father's daughter and have his love and support. The same cannot be said for Kirby, who is more of an outcast and doesn't even have her dad in her corner.

If Anders suspected Kirby was the mole, he should have confronted her instead of selling her out to Blake knowing damn well how he'd handle it.

Vouch for Me - Dynasty Season 3 Episode 8

The only thing that redeemed Anders' reckless behavior was how enjoyable it was to watch him be a snoop.

Kirby has been desperate to belong and find someone to call family. She never found that at the Manor, which is why she was so easily convinced by con-artist Joel.

Kirby is about to become a victim.

The warning signs were there as the FBI questioned her about her new beau's tax fraud, but she willingly chose to ignore them.

Guilty or Innocent? - Dynasty Season 3 Episode 8

Also, did anyone find it odd that the FBI confronted Kirby so publicly? They essentially put a target on her back with both Anders and Joel.

If I've learned anything from The Arrangement, it's that a cult-like group won't take kindly to the idea that they have a traitor in their midst.

Her "i'll see you in a few days" was an ominous warning that we definitely won't.

Alexis didn't just come back to take down her ex-husband, she came back with a new husband, Jeff Colby.

The Blake Trial - Dynasty Season 3 Episode 8

Considering that Colby is Fallon's cousin, this marriage is messed up on so many levels even for a soap opera.

It's unclear what Colby gets out of this marriage aside from gaining some relevance again. His character has been underused and useless for much of Dynasty Season 3 even with the addition of Dominique and Vanessa.

Maybe his only goal was to piss off his mom? If that's the case, it's working.

Dominique continues to be as pointless as her outbreak in court.

Vanessa has the right idea about distancing herself from her mother and her antics.

I'm the Sister - Dynasty Season 3 Episode 8

She's talented enough to get a career without all the added drama, which would hurt her career before it started.

Despite constantly wanting to be better and nothing like her father, Fallon keeps falling back into old habits.

Liam deserved an apology since Fallon kept trying to control him and his unbiased journalism, but Adam didn't.

Adam has been a deranged lunatic since arriving in the Manor.

Fallon wanted him to act on his craziest impulses after finding out that Nadia "slept" with his father, which he did, so it's unfortunate that she included him in her apology tour.

It would have been better if Adam showed Blake his true colors. Maybe he still will. I mean, you can't really un-torch a winery.

While Adam and his unhinged little brain didn't deserve an apology, the moment was crucial in helping Liam remember what happened to him before his amnesia.

When Fallon threw the pot, Liam got a flashback of Adam hitting him over the head and, at that point, with the barn door wide open, we knew it was going to be trouble.

The DA - Dynasty Season 3 Episode 8

I cannot be the only one who hoped that Liam would successfully push Adam off the ledge.

Then again, Liam's the only good and truly innocent one around. If he gives in and kills a man, it means he's no better than the rest of them; he'll have stooped to their level.

Cristal: I hope this works and Blake finally sees Adam for what he is.
Fallon: Oh, it'll work. Adam isn't exactly subtle when he's upset. I mean, he usually snaps in the craziest way possible like putting my face on my mother.

However, Adam cannot pull one over on Liam again. What's going to happen?

Will they both go down? Hopefully, Adam exits in a blaze of glory similar to how he entered!
