Meghan Markle and Prince Harry: The Biggest Bombshells From Oprah Tell-All

at .  Updated at .

Oprah Winfrey sat down with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in an explosive, two-hour tell-all interview on Sunday night.

The special shed light on many things, including the negative media portrayal of the couple, particularly Markle, and so much more.

Harry and Markle hit the headlines in January 2020 when they announced their decision to step down as working members of the royal family.

The announcement came after many years of negative media portrayal leveled towards their relationship. Many of the negative headlines were leveled towards Markle, and it was revealed that new allegations had come to light just days ago, claiming she bullied staff members while a part of the royal family.

The Queen recently called for an investigation into the claims, while a spokesperson for Markle said the Duchess is “saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself.”

We'll start with the happy news during the well-advertised interview:

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Having a Girl!

Just weeks after Markle confirmed she was pregnant with her second child, she and Harry revealed to Oprah that they are having a girl.

They already have one child, Archie, who was born in May 2019.

The rest of the interview was filled with bombshells that did not paint the royal family in the best light.

As you will probably recall, tabloid headlines began circulating months after the Duke and Duchess got married, alleging that Markle made Kate Middleton (wife of Prince William) cry on her wedding day.

"The reverse happened," Meghan said of the allegation. "And I don't say that to be disparaging to anyone because it was a really hard week of the wedding, and she was upset about something.

"But she owned it, and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing."

The issue that started this event?

Markle said that it was due to the bridesmaid dresses.

"It made me cry. It really hurt my feelings," Markle said.

"I actually think it's; I don't think it's fair to her to get into the details of that because she apologized. "And I have forgiven her."

Meghan said that Kate is a "good person," and she didn't want viewers to pit the pair against each other.

"If you love me, you don't have to hate her. And if you love her, you don't have to hate me," she said, adding that the media "really seem to want a narrative of a hero and a villain."

Markle alleged that members of the institution informed her and Prince Harry that their son or daughter would not be made a prince or princess.

They also reportedly refused to give Archie security. Markle did not know why this was the case, but she did say that there were “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born... and what that would mean or look like.”

While Oprah was stunned by the reveal, Markle did not shed light on which family members said this.

Markle addressed her mental health, revealing that she had suicidal thoughts due to all of the lies and negative attention being spread about her.

But she said that no one at The Palace would help her.

“You were having suicidal thoughts?” Oprah asked.

“Look, I was really ashamed to have to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry, especially because I know how much loss he’s suffered," Markle said.

"But I knew that if I didn’t say that I would do it... and I just didn’t ― I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.

"And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought.”

Meghan said she sought help from Human Resources, but she was told "there is nothing we can do to help you because you’re not a paid member of the institution” and that potential help would not be offered “because it wouldn’t be good for The Institution.”

“It takes so much courage to admit you need help,” Markle said.

"To admit that you need help, to admit how dark of a place you’re in.”

Prince Harry was not present for all of the interview, coming out well into the sitdown and admitting that he felt "trapped" for years as part of the family.

“I was trapped, but I didn’t know I was trapped,” he shared.

“Trapped within the system. My father and my brother — they are trapped. They don’t get to leave. And I have huge compassion for that.”

He shared that the family controls you by "fear."

He also worried that Markle would end up like Princess Diana, his mother, who died while trying to escape the paparazzi.

Harry touched on how he thought his mother would feel about him leaving the family with his wife.

"She would feel very angry with how this has panned out, and very sad," Harry replied, adding that his mom also would have seen all this coming because she lived it herself.

"All she'd ever want [would be] for us to be happy."
