Derek: Meredith won't leave the hospital. None of them will. Everybody's waiting a word from on high. Look, don't tell me Lexie's not worried.

Derek: Karev, what do you have?
Alex: 16 year old, dirt bike victim. GCS 15 reported before intubation.
Derek: Ok, on my count. Ready? 1...2...3.
Alex: I'm gonna scrub in.
Derek: So, he announces the merger, then he shuts himself in his office all day and refuses to talk to anybody.
Mark: This merger won't affect us. It's just a financial restructuring.
Derek: What do you think restructuring is? Cutting personnel. Are you prepared to lose all the good people? I'm not. Hey, tell Hunt he's good to go. I'll write up a consult later. I have to talk to Richard right now.

Alex: Ah, what are you doing here?
Izzie: Working.
Alex: Iz, we talked about this. You're supposed to be taking another 3 weeks. Really resting up.
Izzie: I have to come back now before I don't have a job to come back to.
Alex: Iz.
Izzie: I have to show people that I'm not gonna die. Unless I sit alone in that trailer for one more minute. Then I am gonna die. I'm gonna die of boredom.
Alex: Look, Izzie.
Izzie: Seriously. Looks real right? I mean if you didn't know I have cancer, you couldn't know I have cancer. Right?
Alex: Sloan and Shepherd are scrubbing out of surgery in OR 2, grab them before they leave.
Olivia: Let me know if you hear anything about the merger. Nurses are always the last to know, first to go.
Cristina: I talked to Callie last night about the residents at mercy west. She said they don't suck! You're safe 'cause of Derek. Izzie's safe cause of cancer. Alex is Bailey's new favorite. You know even George would have been spared 'cause he's Owen's guy. Cardio has been a revolving door around here and no ones got my back.
Meredith: So, Arizona is your cover?
Cristina: She's merger proof! She keeps little kids alive. No one likes a dead kid. Plus, they're under anesthesia half the time. How bad can it be.
Alex: Oh, he's lost a huge chunk of flesh. I see down to his mandible. We'll need plastics and an ENT consult.
Owen: Left IV looks as if it's clotted off. I need 16 gauge in there.
All the interns: I'VE GOT IT!!!!
Owen: Woah woah woah, what's going on? It's 4 in the morning, is everyone on call?
Cristina: It's the merger. Everyones scared to go home.
Owen: I don't think the Chief meant that people couldn't sleep.
Cristina: It's hard to sleep when your jobs on the line.
Owen: One of you... get as much type specific blood as they'll let you have and meet us in surgery.
Lexie: ME! I GOT IT! I GOT IT! I GOT IT!
Cristina: What I realize is that peds is the only specialty where I can do it all. You have cardio, general, ortho. It's like the whole body is your canvas, and the fact that it's a small canvas makes it more challenging. I mean, I have no idea if you have someone on your service right now but, I would really love to witness your artistry.
Arizona: You got this? Well, you gotta like kids.
Cristina: I love kids.
Arizona: Ok, I'll see you on rounds.
We're all susceptible to it, the dread and anxiety of not knowing what's coming. It's pointless in the end, because all the worrying and the making of plans for things that could or could not happen, it only makes things worse. So walk your dog or take a nap. Just whatever you do, stop worrying. Because the only cure for paranoia is to be here, just as you are.
Meredith (narrating)
Paranoia gives you an edge in the OR. Surgeons play out worst-case scenarios in their heads. You're ready to close, you got the bleeder. You know it but there's that voice in your head asking. What if you didn't? What if the patient dies and you could have prevented it? So you check your work one more time before you close. Paranoia is a surgeon's best friend.
Meredith (narrating)
Cristina: That list is everything - it is my future. It is my salvation. The list is life.
Owen: You're comparing the merger with Schindler's List?
Cristina: I'm Jewish. I'm allowed.
