Hermione: What’s all this?
Veronica: It’s ransom money. Not for Archie, I got him back. No, this is from when I turned the tables on Nick and held for ransom instead. His parents gave me a cool million for my trouble.
Hiram: I told you I was handling the St. Clairs.
Veronica: Funny enough, they hadn’t heard boo about Archie’s kidnapping, but I’ll leave that to you to explain to Archie. He’s in the study waiting for you.

Archie: Mrs. Lodge, I...would never ever do anything to betray your family. I swear.
Hermione: So you’ve proven to me these last few weeks. Hiram and I, unbeknownst to our daughter, enlisted one of our closest associates to approach you, say he was an FBI agent investigating Hiram. Agent Adams isn’t real. He works for me. One of my capos. I asked him to apply a lot of pressure to you, threaten your father even. See if you would crack.
Archie: Wait, this whole thing, it was all some kind of test?
Hermione: Yes, it was...and you passed. Welcome to the family, Archie.

Hermione: Now you know. You know everything.
Hiram: So miha, what do you think?
Veronica: I’m in, but I have ground rules. Well...one ground rule.
Hiram: By all means...
Veronica: I refuse to do anything illegal.
Hermione: That’s fine, especially since we’re not doing anything illegal either. Let me share two words to live by: “Plausible deniability.”

Veronica: What was he doing here?
Hermione: The shadow of The Black Hood has finally landed on our home. We received a letter.
Veronica: What? What did it say?!
Hiram: The usual, that we’ll be targeted and punished for our sinful ways.
Veronica: Well, don’t let it ruin your day.
Hermione: According to Keller, apparently dozens of other households have received the exact same letter.
Veronica: Well, I don’t know about those other people, but we’re actually sinners.

Hermione: The St. Clairs had a car accident. They were run off the road. Nick...he will recover. It will take several months.
Veronica: Oh well. Karma’s a bitch.
[Hiram moves his Chess piece]
Hiram: Checkmate.

Hermione: Nice t-shirt. Will you still be wearing it when Archie is arrested for reckless endangerment or something worse?
Veronica: Archie would never, Mom. He’s being railroaded.
Hermione: And you can say that with absolute certainty after watching that video? Maybe you can, or maybe you’re just being loyal. But let me tell you something about loyalty. There’s nothing more honorable about it, noble even, but blind loyalty...that is a stupid and dangerous thing. I pray that is not the case for you and Archie.

Hiram: You know the one thing about this apartment is that sound carries. You know my study, when the door closed, I could hear you and Veronica in the dining room as if we were all together. If you want to burn down your relationship with our daughter, that’s your business. Don’t ever try to poison her against me. Clear?
Hermione: Of course.

Veronica: I was your fiercest protector, Dad. Ask Mom. Whenever somebody calls you "The devil incarnate," I defended you. I kept telling myself, "He's not that bad. You can forgive him." And then you sent me this.
[Veronica hands Hermione a letter]
Veronica: A letter threatening you, Mom. That's the kind of man you're letting back into our lives.
Hermione: Veronica, your father didn't write this letter...I did.
Veronica: I don't understand.
Hermione: I needed you to testify on your father's behalf, so I wrote this letter. Threatening myself, not your father.
Hiram: Miha, she did it for us to survive, so we can be a family again.
Veronica: You two deserve each other.
[She leaves]

Hermione: Veronica...come here, Miha.
Hiram: I came home early to surprise you. Imagine my surprise when you weren’t here to greet me.
Hermione: And she drank your Cristal....
Hiram: So disrespectful. Not like you at all, Miha.
Veronica: I’ve changed. You have no idea. Question is, have you?
Hiram: Not so much that I still don’t want a kiss from my daughter.
[She walks over and gives him a light kiss on the cheek]
Veronica: By the way, in case either of you were wondering, Mr. Andrews woke up. He’s going to make it. I know we’re all really happy about that.
[She turns around and leaves]

Hermione: So, because you’re so determined to paint your father as a villain, you assume he must have put a hit on Fred Andrews? Do you?
Veronica: Not him. You. I don’t think you’re an innocent pawn, Mom. I think you’re Daddy’s eyes and ears on the ground calling the shots.
Hermione: You genuinely believe that?
Veronica: If the Manolo Blahnik fits.
[Hermione gets up]
Hermione: Miha, your disrespect will no longer be tolerated. Not by me and certainly not by her father when he comes home. So word of advice: get back in line with this family. Because you are a Lodge before anything else.
[She learns forward]
Hermione: I should slap you for what you’re insinuating, but I’m not a violent person.

Alice: You must be loving this, Hermione. Providing sanctuary to my daughter. Asking me here to...what...gloat?
Hermione: I asked you here because I'm trying to help. So what is your plan for Polly? What do you want?
Alice: I want my daughter back. I want my family back together.
Hermione: Then it's time to face the facts.
Alice: Hermione, Polly is a teenager. She hasn't even finished high school, the father of her baby has been murdered. You want to play house with her and throw her a baby shower? Fine. But the very next day, all of those things will still be true. And she's supposed to...what...raise a child?!
Hermione: Mothers do it every day. We did it. Come to the shower, be there for Polly, help her. Otherwise, you're going to regret it for the rest of your life.

Mrs. Lodge: When your father was arrested, he made you a legal officer of Lodge Industries. Surprise! And two out of three signatures are needed to override the contract, which your father wants to give to a less than legit outfit.
Veronica: And you want my help to give it to your boyfriend? [Scoffs] I was going to apologize to you. If I sign that, will you stop seeing Fred Andrews?
Mrs. Lodge: Honey, I can't agree to that.
Veronica: Then that case, Mom, I'm sorry, but no. However, you're rationalizing what you're doing with Archie's dad, I don't want any part of it.
[She leaves]

Mrs. Cooper: Hermoine Lodge. Park Ave Princess to cater waiter.
Mrs. Lodge: Alice Cooper. No longer lactose intolerant, I see.
Mrs. Cooper: How's Veronica? Oh, you don't even know, do you? The things they're saying about your daughter at school?
Mrs. Lodge: What things?
Mrs. Cooper: Slut-shaming. It's what they call it when sluts get shamed.
