In Miami, a church burns down and the only object spared is this mysterious painting that dates back to the 1500's. Coulson and May track the painting down but their interest is of a more personal nature as Coulson knows the writing well. Unfortunately, HYDRA is also after the artifact and Bakshi posing as General Talbot crashes the party threatening to expose the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. May goes on reconnaissance, but is soon captured and replaced by Agent 33 who uses a holographic mask. While Bakshi interrogates May, her imposter regroups with Coulson. At the bus, she plants a HYDRA device in the computer system. Agent 33 (as May) convinced Coulson that Talbot's intentions are true and they head back to the hotel. Meanwhile, the bus begins locking up triggering fail safe's that will ultimately destroy the plane. Fitz manages to put his insecurities aside and works with the team to save the day. He's begun to bond with his new teammates and is on the road to recovery. At the hotel, Agent May manages to escape and faces off against her imposter. Coulson takes possession of the painting and they leave before HYDRA's reinforcements arrive. An analysis of the painting confirms that it is 500 years old. However, the mysterious writing is brand new meaning someone like Coulson is out there carving. Though May had a contingency plan in place in case Coulson goes the way of Garrett, he asks her to forget all that. She must kill him as ordered. Elsewhere, HYDRA's Daniel Whitehall gives Raina 48 hours to turn over the obelisk or else.
