After Mike's son died, his daughter in law, Stacey, moved herself and her daughter, Kaylee, to New Mexico from Philadelphia. Six months later, Mike joined them after taking care of some business and avenging his son's death at the hands of two dirty cops who were supposed to be his friends.

Mike knew the cops killed his son because he knew they were dirty. He knew they were dirty because he was also dirty. All the cops on the force were taking kickbacks and bribes or swiping money off the top during drug busts. All of them except Matty.

Matty took money exactly once and two days later he was dead. Mike couldn't live with the fact that the guys who killed his son would get away with it so he took matters into his own hands.

The Philadelphia police showed up in New Mexico after a phone call from Stacey turned their attention back toward Mike. Jimmy will have to help Mike get out of this one.
