Recap

While undercover, Jamie shoots a mugger when he goes for Jamie’s gun. The mugger says he never went for the gun and he’s the son of a police officer. The father is a Captain in the state police force and former NYPD. Jamie begins to doubt whether the mugger was really going to grab for his gun.

The mugger takes a plea deal and will recover from his wounds. Turns out he once had a lacrosse scholarship to an ivy league school but was sidelined by an injury. He then got addicted to the pain killers which led him to begin robbing people for drug money. His father wants to talk to Jamie. Turns out that he just wants to apologize to Jamie.

A private prison van drives erratically to get their prisoners to quiet down and end up causing an accident. Four prisoners are injured, one is killed and a witness of Erin’s, Kenny Becker, escaped. The woman who was killed didn’t die from injuries sustained during the crash. Another prisoner says the van drivers never gave her her medication and then took her out and made the other prisoners beat her when she acted out.

Rick Wolf, the owner of the van service scoffs when Erin gives him a subpoena for his records, but afterwards, Erin arrests the driver of the van, who happens to be Rick’s son, for the woman’s murder. Not only does she have witness testimony, she has the son’s text messages talking about the beatings with his father.

Reverend Potter’s 15-year-old son, Michael is shot dead while taking a short cut home after a math contest at school. When Danny finds that Michael had trace amounts of marijuana in his system, Potter accuses him of trying to blame the victim and goes to the governor to have a special prosecutor take the case away from the NYPD.

After a confrontation with Danny and a conversation with Frank, Potter decides to work with the NYPD. Danny and Baez uncover that Michael was killed by another 15-year-old boy as a gang initiation. The irony is that the head of the gang is Omar Davis, a man who was once in one of Potter’s outreach programs. When Potter says Frank could never understand the irony, Frank shares that his son, Joe, was killed by a crooked cop. Potter invites Frank and Danny to his son’s funeral and asks Frank to speak.
