On Major Crimes Season 5 Episode 8, the team investigates a case that may not be a major crime at all -- the apparent death by overdose of a television star named Chris Walker.

Chris had been clean for a while and had a personal assistant named Jared. Flynn knows Jared from his AA group and wants to prove Chris has actually been murdered as a favor to his daughter, who admires Jared. Provenza has his doubts, but the team begins an investigation anyway.

They quickly discover a drugged smoothie and a long list of suspects. However, none of the suspects benefitted from Chris' death, as he was making money for most of them.

Chris' death is looking more and more like an accident, but Flynn insists on pushing forward -- even if Jared is the most viable suspect.

Meanwhile, when Rusty takes his mom to her OBGYN appointment, he has an emotional reaction to seeing his half-sister on the sonogram, one that he did not expect but Sharon did. When he finds out that his mom is choosing to have no contact with the baby because of his concerns, he has a big decision to make.
