The show opens with the discovery of a severed leg in a storage bin on the wharf.
It turns out the leg belongs to the body of Petty Officer Calvin Parks - a man who Pride had mentored some years ago.
Upon discovering the rest of his body, Dr. Wade notices a gang tattoo on his arm, which indicates his death may have been a result of an inter-gang confrontation.
While interviewing some gang members, Pride and his crew come under drive-by shooting fire by a rival gang.
Later, Dr. Wade consults with Ducky and forensic scientist Sebastian Lund, upon which they determine that the gang tattoo had been added to his body post-mortem. His gang-style death had been staged.
After investigating the artist who provided the ink, they determine that one of the wharf workers had done the tattoo. Pride and Brody question him, but he's too afraid to say who commissioned the job.
It turns out that Parks had been investigating some sketchy shipments from Guatemala, and that he had discovered heroin being smuggled into New Orleans.
Pride has a good idea of who the mastermind is though, as he confronts city councilman Douglas Hamilton - who was the only other person to know of Parks' pre-Navy gangland past.
