Regina continues to play double agent with the evil trio and the Dark One but manages to get a message out to tell Emma, Mary Margaret, David and Hook that Mr. Gold is back in Storybrooke and searching for the author. Belle realizes she gave the dagger to her husband and Hook is angry that his identity was used to do it.

Hook offers Ursula a deal. He'll get her the happy ending she's always wanted if she tells him Gold's real plan. Turns out that back in the fairy tale world, Hook took away Ursula's voice in order to try and get back at the Dark One. Though there are several missteps, Hook does manage to get her voice back and reunite Ursula with her father. In return she tells Hook that Mr. Gold knows that the author can't completely give him his happy ending. That's partly in the savior's hands so he plans to turn Emma's heart to darkness.
When August is rescued, Regina learns the truth about where the secret place where the author is being held.
