-A young woman is found dead at a bus stop. Her skull is bashed in and the killer dressed her up as a doll in makeup and old clothes.
-When more victims turn up they believe they have a serial killer. Maura confirms that the sliver of wood in one of victim's wounds was from white ash used to make older police issued night sticks. There's also blood on the wood that's been there since the early 1990s.
-The investigation leads to a cop whose wife disappeared in the '90s. She ran a doll shop.
-When another victim goes missing the detectives track the cop's grown son, Jonathan holding her in the abandoned shop. He witnessed his father kill his mother when he was a kid and was just released from a mental institution. His father shoots and kills him but Jane finds the wife's body behind the brick in the fireplace of their home.
-Maura finds out that Casey is paralyzed and promises not to tell Jane but tells Angela instead. Angela tricks Jane and Casey into meeting and they decide to take things slow.
