Hauser is able to provide Laura with some information on a cold case they had been working on regarding a man named Thomas "The Irishman" Mullens and the money he stole. Laura follows the lead Hauser gave her and it turns out to be true, so she goes to visit him in prision, but he's not able to provide her with any information because he's being watched. The next day, Laura turns out her TV and finds out Hauser and Mullens have both escaped prison and Laura is convinced Hauser escaped to lead her to the evidence they need to close the cold case. Laura, and the team, follow the various clues left behind by Hauser and are able to track him and Mullens down to a building. Jake tells Laura to wait to go in until everyone gets there, but when she sees Mullens take Hauser hostage, she immediately springs to action. Thankfully everyone arrives on the scene quickly and they are able to take down Mullens. Later, Hauser tearfully explains to Laura he didn't help her close this case to get a reduced sentence, but to apologize for losing her trust.
