11 Biggest Disappointments of 2018

Does anybody remember this show? It came to great hoopla only to disappear without a whimper. Josh Radnor starred in this musical high-school series from NBC, at one point touted to be the next Friday Night Lights. The storylines were predictable and the characters irritating. Not even one of Hamilton's producers could save it.

Jessica Jones is one of only a couple remaining Marvel shows on Netflix, and it had one of the worst sophomore seasons. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't anything to sing about. It was boring. In fact, to tell the truth, I didn't finish watching it. I got 3/4 of the way through and forgot I hadn't finished it. If that doesn't tell you how boring it was, what does?

It's not that Dynasty Season 1 was the best show we've ever seen, but at least it had the sense to cast Nicolette Sheridan as Alexis Carrington. Unfortunately, the characters don't write their own stories and the stories are terrible (when the characters aren't getting written off or replaced). Hey, it's a soap opera.

HBO doesn't always get it right. A family drama with Holly Hunter and Tim Robbins at the helm as a kooky couple with adopted kids trying to live outside their parents' more eccentric behavior never quite took off. There were some possible supernatural elements that pulled the series off-course, but with a slightly different stance, this Alan Ball show could have made it.

Yes, I said it. Manifest had a tremendous marketing campaign promising the same feeling from Lost. You know what? It hasn't delivered. It's not even close. Instead, it has a procedural feel with too much cliched-drama, and the original concept seems more like an afterthought to push the other storylines through.
